Carter-Vickers Linked Again
Sunday, 13th Jan 2019 10:25

Former Blues loanee Cameron Carter-Vickers is again being linked with a return to Portman Road.

According to The Sun on Sunday, his parent club Tottenham Hotspur are willing to send the US international back to Town on loan for the second half of the season with his opportunities having been limited during his spell at Swansea, which is currently due to run to the end of the campaign.

The 21-year-old, who it’s reported will make a decision on his future this week, has made only six starts and five sub appearances for the Swans and was an unused sub as they drew 1-1 at Preston yesterday.

Blues boss Lambert is said to have made an enquiry regarding the Southend-born defender, who made 17 appearances for the Blues in a highly-successful loan spell during the second half of last season.

As previously reported, Carter-Vickers was on Lambert’s list of potential targets going into January, however, with James Collins having been recruited on a free transfer towards the end of last week, Town signing another central defender seems less likely.

Speaking after yesterday’s 1-0 victory over Rotherham, Lambert also played down the chances of adding another loanee to his squad.

The still-ongoing move to recruit Alan Judge, 30, from Brentford would see the Republic of Ireland international join the Blues on a full-time basis.

Where would CCV fit in unless you are going to drop Chambers and play him and Collins together. He would not sign unless guaranteed a game. He is unhappy at Swansea because he is not getting game time. He will not sign as cover for Collins!

CV in ...Pennington out.......amazing that we keep a clean sheet when Collins comes in and organises the back four by shouting..,something our current captain has never done....our defence looked much better when cv was in there as he did the same ....it's not rocket science but just was ignored in the last 5 years as was one of micks proper blokes ....I would happily have Chambo in the side but taking instructions

Irrespective of the validity pf the report, would be a welcome addition. More concerned about the lack of cover provided by the midfield and chances created(three at home)

We should never have let him go.

Haven't Spurs played CCV at right back this season? If he can cover CB and RB then get him in even if he is the 6th loanee.

Of course, with the number of football "rumours" the Sun puts out, they're bound to get a few right. Personally, i don't believe the date printed on the front page, till i've double checked it!

As much as Lambert has praised the skipper ( I have never faulted his whole hearted effort to the cause) he has been found lacking this season and his positional play has been questionable too say the least at times resulting in us conceding goals I know he has had to watch what the ineffective Spence has been up to, but if CCV comes in then with Pennington at right back(I thought he played well yesterday) then Chambo will be an asset from the bench!! oh well wait and see i'm just saying as I see it all I want is us to stay up who ever gets his nose put out the club is bigger than any individual.

I say get in a right back/bring back Emmanuel, then cut Penningtons loan - I know it's harsh but with CCV, Collins and Chambers in the squad he looks like the most expendable of the 6 loans. Could also keep him as a squad player but I'm sure Everton would have reservations about that

CCV signing wouldn't be a bad thing. Yes, we signed Collins but he is 35 years old and I'm not sure you can rely on him playing 90 minutes week in week out.

I thought Collins was immense on Saturday, and the prospect of he and CV at the back makes for the best defensive partnership we've had for years. If we can get the finishing right up front as well then we might, just might not be down yet.

Hang on a minute. I thought Lambert said that you just go out and get 7-8 new players and expect things to work out. Isn't that what he is doing? So what Lambert meant to say was "the 7-8 new players Hurst got in were utter cr*p".
