Ticket Promotion for Reading's Visit to Portman Road
Tuesday, 5th Feb 2019 10:40

Town have announced a ticket promotion for the home game against fellow strugglers Reading on Saturday 2nd March (KO 3pm).

Tickets for the match have gone on sale today with adult prices in all areas of Portman Road set at £12, while senior citizens aged 65-plus and under-23s will be charged £8, and under-19s £3.

The Royals are currently 22nd, four points from safety and seven points above the bottom-of-the-table Blues.

There is also a similar promotion at the Derby County game on Wednesday 13th February (KO 7.45pm).

Your post makes out as though we are 11 adrift Phil. Reading are only one point from safer not 4

I wouldn't take the offer of free pint and pie.
Never tasted such revolting food and drink anywhere else but PR.
The club must lose a fortune each year, as most regulars I'm sure wouldn't touch the rubbish food and drink on offer.

I think the message is clear or at least should be to our owner given that we can barely fill half the ground and that is to reduce prices throughout the whole stadium for everyone for every game next season.
Through my season ticket I currently pay £21 to see a game (Sir Alf upper) To be honest aside from having the guarantee of having your own seat each game there is no real gain in being a season ticket holder.
Will be thinking long and hard as to what to do next season as between us my wife and I are paying out just over a thousand pounds. A lot of money for what return? Please don't give an answer of because that's what supporters do because that line is wearing thin. We shall remain supporters irrespective of whether or not we have a season ticket. However equally we are not going to throw money away if it becomes cheaper to buy tickets adhoc each game. We are certainly not going to be in danger of not getting a seat!

It doesn't bother me at all if the club do promotions on match day prices. The more in the ground the better after all we need as much noise as possible.
What is the point in complaining if you already have a season ticket and others get in cheaper.I think it's a very good idea and something on these lines should happen next season whatever league we are in,after all we will need all the support we can get.

Can see both sides of the argument here - feel a bit sorry for the season ticket holders who have no doubt paid a fare wack of money only to see some cheap match day tickets go regularly on sale and I'm not sure if there was some sort of discount of the 1/2 season ticket sales as well?. On the other hand the more the merrier in the stadium to build up an atmosphere and introduce possible new ticket holders for next season (though what has been on offer so fa I'll doubt there will be many takers).

As a season card holder I'm not bothered if they gave the seats away, if it encourages fans to attend who would not normally, surely that's a good thing, ain't it?
As for the catering, I've seen more life in our back four than the beer on offer, and it's certainly as flat, and the coffee, if that's Douwe Egbert's then I'm McCarthy's flying Dutch Aunt.

this is good as not everyone is in a fortunate enough position to be able to afford a season ticket, most people get it though and lets hope its a sensible £15 a ticket in lge 1 next season...yer heard that fella moaning about choccy bars like really wtf,get a grip mate, have you never heard of poundland or wilko

I appreciate this is not the best deal for season ticket holders, but what if the team were flying high at the top of the league. I imagine we would get a big 25,000 plus each game, most people would not be able to get a ticket on the day, I am a season ticket holder and I love these promotions I want more people to come watch the town, bring the kids and see the next load of fans coming through.

I'm sorry, this won't be popular I'm sure, but this is a step too far.

Great to bring in the promotions two or three times a season. Tops. Lovely to see the additional people. BUT the people who take advantage of this rarely return at full price.

As a season ticket holder I am probably worse off this season. The club assumes ST holders can attend every game. In reality most miss one or two. Now, the club are allowing those with little loyalty to enjoy reduced prices on a far too regular basis. I'm at the point where actually, I've missed a couple of games so I may as well pick and choose next season and go when tickets are on offer.

The other point to note is ST holders are delayed at the gate, queue longer for the bar, toilets etc as the club rarely man up.

This in my opinion is a step very much too far. It's now pick and choose for me. If I'd have known about this one, I'd have been better to cancel my DD and pay just £24 to watch Derby and Reading.

Sorry but Season Ticket holders have every right to be a bit annoyed by this.
A large part of the club's marketing of season tickets is how much cheaper they are compared with the matchday price.
They need to be very careful as people will stop believing this in future.

No problem with these occasional price offers. From a marketing perspective, these offers are seen as good value to casual supporters. If the prices are reduced for every game, they are no longer attractive and the club loses big time. Better to offer lower priced season tickets in April to encourage consistent attendance.

Both sides of the argument carry valid reasoning, I see it from both sides. But the fella complaining that it causes a shortage of chocolate bars, that's not an argument that's plain pathetic!

Getting fans in fine but a double edged sword as they are creating unrest in the season ticket holders.......who can ultimately walk away leaving less. As for personal gain at the start of this thread. Such a ridiculous comment, it's not personal gain it's being recognised for loyalty and treated fairly, easy to take money by direct debit month.......easy to refund the difference on promotional matches....... I very much doubt those making such comments actually turn up anyway.

To all season ticket holders who are aggrieved send an email to this address customerservice@itfc.co.uk
Whilst i like to see a good atmosphere these games do attract some unsavoury behaviour mainly because those super fans that buy the cheap tickets but dont otherwise attend seem to spend 4 hours in the pub before the game and then behave like complete idiots whilst at the game.
A better way of attracting crowds of the future would be to sell tickets kids for a pound and accompanying adults 10.00.

Winge, Winge, Winge...
To all the season ticket holders who feel hard done by, don't buy one, it's your choice.

As a ST holder I'm all for these promotions, let's fill the ground.
As for Craig on the radio, so embarrassing, good that MM told him to shut up

Thanks to people that agree with what I'm saying, as for embarrassing and mm told me to f off, that's a load of tosh for a start, the problem with some of our fans is that they love to moan but wouldn't do anything whatsoever to try sort it out, and the only embarrassment right now is our club but don't get wrong I'm ipswich til I die, but for the love of god do we have to accept the crap that's going on at OUR club, not sure how many are aware but a lot of staff have had they're hours cut by half, contractors doing work around the ground etc are not being paid, they always and trust me always leave it til last minute to pay the council business rates for the ground, these are a few examples, and my point on the radio was there never seems to be enough stock in the catering bars at half time and because I now take my kids I notice a few things are always missing, as well as the beer which trashes like piss, also programmes seem to be in short supply, another thing my kids have, yes it's good to get fans in but they should cater for it,basically take the piss all you like but I've no problem in telling anyone how upsetting and frankly painful this is to watch the club I love float down the drain like this, my name is Craig Wright and i don't give a flyer who knows it I won't hide behind false names on here anybody that knows me will kno that

Well done Craig for having the courage to speak your mind on the radio which I enjoyed and also to respond to some strong comments aimed at you on TWTD. Whether people agree or disagree with people's views they should respect their opinions and leave it at that. I thought we still lived in a democratic world!

You go Craigy boy 💪

If the players showed half your spirit we'd already have been crowned champions!

There is no loyalty from the club to the fans.

They just bleed every penny they can get from us to pay lottery winning wages to players who sit out injured for two years, ageing journeyman and those who seem to think they are so much better players than the transfer window recently proved.

A day out at Portman road has to be the worst value for money I can think of.

Sh1t team, Sh1t catering and for what it matters they do run out of chocolate bars when all the lukewarm grey matter excuse for food has gone and that's your last choice.

Easy to put up with as a young single man but taking your children?

Never again.
