EFL Clubs Revise Transfer Window
Thursday, 2nd May 2019 18:36

EFL clubs have agreed a revised approach to the summer transfer window which will see League One and Two clubs able to register players until August 31st.

Clubs gave their indicative support to the proposals today ahead of a formal vote at an Extraordinary General Meeting.

Outlining the situation an EFL statement reads: “A deadline of 31st August for League One and League Two clubs for all permanent and loan registrations, thereby providing increased flexibility in relation to trading between clubs in those two divisions.”

The deadline for Championship clubs closes at 5pm on the Thursday prior to the start of the Premier League season on Saturday 10th August.

EFL chief executive Shaun Harvey said: “I’m pleased that the matter has been determined and thereby ensuring clubs have sufficient time to prepare ahead of the summer transfer window opening in June.

“It is right that clubs were given the opportunity to determine the direction of travel in order to come to a decision that benefitted their own individual transfer policies.”

I suspect this will mean a bit of a mad scramble for players where last minute moves to Championship clubs collapse. Hopefully it should favour us over more League One teams.

Won't increase flexibility. All deals for prem and championship have to be done by 10th, then it's cue the bunfight for the dregs that didn't get a deal! That will then give the parasitic agents another 21 days to bleed already struggling clubs dry. The real issues that aren't being addressed are the number of players that big clubs are allowed to own and loan out and the joke that is the January transfer window.

for all of my life the transfer regulations in division 3-4 have never concerned me....until now...is my life heading in the wrong direction or has something disastrous happened to my team or both ?

Great...will give us even longer to faff around over transfer negotiations.

Moronic move. Probably aimed to benefit bigger clubs having more time to loan out players or ship out those they dont need. July 31st would make better sense for everyone, rather than pissing around after the season has kicked off.
