Owner Evans Determined to Keep Judge and Dozzell at Portman Road
Friday, 26th Jul 2019 14:11

Town owner Marcus Evans is determined to hold on to targeted Blues pair Alan Judge and Andre Dozzell this summer, TWTD understands.

Judge is the subject of interest from QPR and has told manager Paul Lambert he is keen on the move, while Norwich City are among a number of Premier League clubs eyeing Dozzell, as TWTD revealed last week.

A report this morning claiming the Blues had set a price of £750,000 for Judge is wide of the mark, we understand, while Evans has similarly not put a figure on Dozzell’s head with interested parties, with Town believed to value the academy product at around the £5 million mark.

Evans - like Lambert - sees the two players as important to the club’s League One promotion hopes during 2019/20 and wants them to remain at Portman Road and it seems likely the Blues would rebuff all but the most over the top offers for the pair.

As previously reported, Town have instigated contract talks with Dozzell with the club keen to get all their talented young players tied down to long-term deals.

Town owner Evans has shown a similar determination to keep hold of players in the past when clubs have shown strong interest, most notably turning down Leicester’s £7 million bid for David McGoldrick in 2014.

Meanwhile, Sources close to QPR believe the West Londoners would struggle to offer a fee much in excess of the £450,000 which the Blues have already turned down, their initial bid having been £250,000.

The only chance Evans has got of keeping Judge is to give him more money unless QPR pull out of the deal.

Some cynics on here.

If the valuation is met he will go. Well of course, every player has his price. The question is, is our valuation way over the odds. Will it take silly money to prize them away.

Its so we forget about the 3 PL wants? Yeah because football fans are known for their short memories.... especially this one where sadly we have to look back to the glory days.

The only chance Evans has is to give him more money. Well no, we have a 2 year contract and earlier reports of a release clause appear to be untrue so Evans doesn't have to do a thing. That could alienate the player and if he makes enough fuss Evans may deem it not worth the hassle but if wants can have him train with the under 23s....lets hope that doesn't come to pass though.

This is not to say all is well in the house of Town but its getting a bit conspiracy theory in here sometimes. We wait with baited breath for new arrivals and prey we get through the Camb U game without further injury

I can honestly say "This coming from a man who caves under immediate pressure when a player wants to leave the club for a more lucrative contract, I still DO NOT BELIEVE the Man's words" #EvansOut

What Evans needs to do however is free up funds quickly to sign the three player Lambert obviously thinks are needed to challenge for promotion. The squad has potential, but we need reinforcements and more senior players.

If QPR dont match our evaluation he wont be talking to them, so all this talk of he will be off if he is offered better wages is wrong, first they have to match our valuation, its the way it works!

Judge signed a contract in April, just get on with it and play.

I'm sure Paul Lambert has told Mr Evans that loosing 2 important players this late into pre season would have a major impact, Judge is crucial to the squad and our chances of promotion him moving on for below 2.5 million would be ridiculous and fingers crossed Mr Evans has learnt from last seasons mistakes

, I'm sure Judge is still onboard with Paul's plans He only signed the 2 year deal in April
I think Reading between the lines Paul has told Mr Evans of his frustrations In the slow nature of getting new faces through the door let's hope we have at least 2 more additions before the opener next week 🤞

Stupid to listen to previous reports Bobble?
Does that mean it's ok to believe this one?

"Determined to keep them"? Surely it's as simple as saying they're not for sale isn't it?

Good news Marcus whilst i respect the fact that players need to maximise their earning potential they must show a modicum of respect to the contracts they sign.

I may be naive but I'm clinging to this ME statement with everything crossed.
However more of a concern however is that if the value's are met i have little confidence this money will be reinvested in the team and there lies the problem we have had for the last few season's , if not longer under Evans.

We know Contracts don't mean too much. We have not had one player that has wowed us for many years. Times have changed, we have to learn to improve on a vet Sorry decade. We were given sour lessons away at Preston and Sheffield Utd. If we don't switch on we will be in more poo

Very happy to eat my words of a few days ago.

This is excellent news and if it becomes a reality will show the Club's intent to get out of this division.

Also pleased to see the young fullback Crowe has signed a contract after much speculation.

If we can now get in the players Lambert's after in the next few days it will be the icing on the cake.

ITFCSINCE73 I - I never said stupid and no that's exactly my point , let's wait and see. People read an article on here and it becomes gospel . Some times it's complete rubbish but people still make stupid comments .
Let's hope this is true .
