Elliott and Norris at Town to Conclude Loan Moves
Monday, 29th Jul 2019 15:58

TWTD understands new loan recruits Tom Elliott and Will Norris are both at Portman Road this afternoon to undergo medicals and complete the other formalities relating to their signings.

Elliott’s move to Town from Millwall on a season-long loan, which TWTD revealed last night, still has a fair way to progress and may not be concluded until tomorrow, while it’s likely Norris’s switch from Wolves will be concluded later today, although won't be confirmed until Bartosz Bialkowski's move to Millwall is done and dusted, which now won't be until tomorrow. Both players will sign on season-long loans.

It’s understood Bialkowski is at Millwall as he moves towards confirmation of his season-long switch to the Lions, a deal which could also be concluded tomorrow.

Each to there own, but I for one was very pleased to read Lamberts comments that he would only get one and at most two loans this season. Made a big point of it.

Now, after being told Lambert only wanted permanent additions and three of them, we end up with two loans. As I say each to their own and I hope the new guys do well, but I'm disappointed, mainly because it could hinder our players at the expense of other teams players. Let's hope Jackson doesn't suffer because of a loan. There is no point having a loan in goal at the expense of Holy and frankly it would do young Wright more good sitting on the bench or the other youngster we signed from WBA.

Got to disagree with you Jas0999. Sitting on the bench all season will do nothing for Harry Wright, he needs to play to improve, so bringing this guy on loan allows Wright to go out on loan to play competitive football rather than the U23's.
Lambert said he wouldn't bring in loans if they would hinder the progress of our young players coming through. We don't have a big solid centre forward in our ranks, so he's something different and not blocking a youngsters path. Just my opinion, but lets hope we can get off to a flier!! COYB!!

Living in Wimbledon a few of my AFC fans are gutted about this they thought he was signing for them. I watched him quite a bit when he played for them and he is decent and will be an asset for us this year.

I have to ask the obvious question but if he was any good then why are the power house of European football millwall f c letting him go? Exactly I rest my case. He's crap.

Jas, which of players are they going to get in the way of? Holy looks like no 1 and our young strikers are injured..I would say if we are to have loans those are the 2 positions I'd rather see them

Elliot represents the level we find ourselves at the moment. PL is making do with what he can get, which was something Mick was quite good at and I suspect PL is good at it too. Norwood and Elliot might just work well together in terms of their complementary styles. My main worry is Elliot was described at Rotherham as a "sicknote," and it was his hamstring that was the problem; so he obviously has a weakness there. We are taking a calculated risk.

Probably suits all parties.

Bart is on loan and depending upon circumstances could return to Ipswich next season.

Elliott move could be a look before you buy as he's out of contract next season.. and Norris from all accounts is a decent keeper

Now just sort us out a couple of defenders and we should be sorted.

Never understood why some here are so against loans. If they are seasonlong like these three, it's the same as someone playing in the last year of his contract, like Knudsen or McGoldrick. Just the same, leaving for nothing.
Wouldn't say Vallejo from Real Madrid to Wolves is a bad deal for them, nor Dani Ceballos from Real to Aresenal ...

I think it makes perfect sense Bart going to millwall as they'll be paying his wages I presume however another two loans? If this is as I'm guessing at the expense of the three signings that lambert wanted Evans to get in then sorry it smacks of desperation and probably again due to not competing and being able to offer the signings what they want which to me is a huge concern however if the happy clappers are ok with this then good for them it just worries me we're going to be relying on players that aren't ours yet again! We all want the team to win and challenge but I'm sick of managers scrimping and scraping and never getting the assistance they need to do their job

BlueSwede that's one quality loan each team we constantly sell players then rely on 5 loans every season that's why the quality in our squad has got weaker and weaker season on season because we paper over cracks with loans. You can't compare this guy who's hardly a prolific striker even in league one to players from Madrid

BeattiesBackPocket, I was just talking about the problems some have with loans. Every team uses them. You can argue the quality of them, but not the fact that they are useful for every club, even Arsenal and Chelsea use them. And in the Championship Aston Villa had eight loans in last season, Sheffield United seven. What if we would have had some of their loanplayers?

DJ27...well said, spot on!

Nobbysnuts.. poor statement! if they were any good why did we let these go, McGoldrick, Marriot, Clark, tommy smith, there are a loads who left us who went on to prove they should still be here!

Give the bloke a chance! I cant say i was over excited by Waghorns signature, but then i knew nothing about him! also from Scotland (Pukki) was a free transfer for Norwich he did pretty well for them and i dont expect many canaries were jumping with joy, i dare say a few even wrote him off! before he played for them! He was hardly prolific before he went there!

We all want better, but i see no point in moaning before he has pulled the shirt on!

Injured all the time (he's even injured now) and couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo. His scoring record is appalling.

Watched the highlights reel? thats all i have to judge him on, scores with both feet and looks deadly in the air.

The rot sets in, again.
Manager SAYS : We will use our home-grown players
Manager MEANS : I can't risk any of those herberts ; I'll get some old lags in on loan

The striker I can understand.

The keeper I can't as we seem to be well stocked in that position, even if Bart leaves.

Could we please sign an experienced, fit centre-back?

This is the perfect bit of business isn't it? Bart's wages off our books, but we get him back next season when we go back up, we get a decent enough back up keeper to Holy, and we bring in a target man that at last gives us a Plan B...

We certainly need someone to work off of Norwood and this guy could be the one, hopefully. Don't care if he doesn't score all season, as long as he feeds Norwood and helps him repeat last season for Tranmere.

Blocker123 he has given Evans 3 players if they don't sign them is it his fault? Or someone else's?

Elliot has one thing we are really lacking ad that is size. most of our players are tiny in comparison to what they will be up against and are likely to be shoved around a lot.

The difference is Dissboy! we didnt want them to go!!! There is millwall fans saying they will drive this guy down here to get rid of him.
