ITFC Women Host Basildon on Sunday
Saturday, 14th Dec 2019 10:00

Ipswich Town Women host AFC Basildon in FAWNL Division One South East at the Goldstar Ground, Felixstowe on Sunday afternoon (KO 2pm).

The Tractor Girls, who beat Basildon 5-0 in the Women’s FA Cup last month, are currently four points ahead at the top of the table with AFC Wimbledon now second with Billericay, who weren’t in league action last week, down to third, level with fourth-placed Leyton Orient with both clubs having a game in hand on the top two sides.

“I think they’re a team which will know what to expect,” manager Joe Sheehan said of Basildon.

“It will be a different challenge for us now we’re playing team for the second time around because they’ll know what we’re like and that can sometimes work in their favour and against us.

“I’m sure they will come up with a strategy to try and counter what we’re trying to do and it’ll be up to us to try and overcome that.”
He added: “I think if we get through the next two league fixtures, we’ll be exactly where we wanted to be going into 2020.

“We then have to re-evaluate and look at the next batch and we’ll certainly be in a very, very strong position going into the new year if we can get through the next two.”

Meanwhile, ITFC Women’s U21s fixture against Manchester City in the WSL Academy League has been postponed as Anna Grey, Eloise King, Paige Peake and Blue Wilson have all been called up for an England U18s training camp.
