Folami Named in Australian U23s Squad
Monday, 30th Dec 2019 15:20

Town striker Ben Folami has been named in the Australian squad for the AFC U23 Championship in Thailand in January.

Folami, 20, has previously won two caps at U23 level. The tournament doubles up as the qualifying process for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

The Olyroos play an international friendly against South Korea during a training camp in Kuala Lumpur on Friday before making the trip to Bangkok where they will be in Group A.

They open their fixtures against Iraq on Wednesday 8th January, then face the hosts on the Saturday before completing their group matches against Bahrain on the following Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Folami's Blues U23s team-mate Ryley Scott, 18, has joined BetVictor Southern League Premier Division Central Leiston on a month's loan.

The midfielder or full-back previously had a spell on loan at Bury Town in 2018.

Does that mean "another" match to be called off

No, not an international break, just the AFC U23s tournament. No more postponements for international breaks as we were due to play Bury in the March one so that's off anyway.

Was looking very promising before his injury not quite found his best form yet. Probably one of those players who will move on and do well.

Australia are slowly building a good team after the exodus of the golden age boys.. folami should be looking for a team in the A league to play for, as town are 3rd division nobodies these days and staying with them will not further his career, unless there is a sharp improvement in results for town...

No bobble if he played in a Sunday morning pub league it would be a higher standard than in Aus plus he would learn to speak proper like wot such we does.
