Parrott: I'm Happy to Be Here and I Can't Wait to Get Going
Monday, 1st Feb 2021 15:10

New loan signing Troy Parrott says he’s really happy to have joined the Blues on loan for the rest of the season and is looking forward to the challenge.

Parrott, 18, was recalled from his spell at Millwall, apparently as Spurs wanted the Irish international to play as a central striker rather than wide, and joined up with Town this morning.

"I'm really happy to be here," Parrott told iFollow Ipswich. "There are some good players here and I'm looking forward to the second half of the season.

"It was great to get out for my first training session this morning and the lads gave me a really nice welcome.

"I love a challenge and I want to be part of something. I'm excited to get going and I want to score some goals for this club.

"I will work hard for the team and I'm ready to play. I played last weekend so I'm feeling good in terms of match sharpness and I can't wait to get started.”

The Dubliner says his conversations with manager Paul Lambert and general manager of football operations Lee O’Neill went well as they discussed the move.

“Really well actually,” he reflected. “I spoke to them before I came and I just got the right feeling off the two of them and that’s why I’m here now.”

Parrott made 10 starts and four sub appearances while with Millwall without scoring having been hampered by one or two knocks in the early stages.

“I started with a couple of injuries, so for the first couple of months I was stop-start really,” he said. “But once it got going, I enjoyed everything about it, good lads there, the manager and the coaching staff did a lot for me.

“All around, I see it as not having gone as we planned at the start but I learned a lot of stuff there and hopefully I can take that with me.”

He added: “I’m really happy to be here, it’s a big club so I can’t wait to get going.”

I just don't trust Lambert. He's preference is one up front so why would he change now!

Could do with solid midfielder to ease life of defenders!! New faces to freshen things up is great. But right now we are playing like a bad pub team. We Can't get any worse or could we

Welcome Troy. This could be a useful loan signing if it forces Lambert's hand into making a striking pair. Lambert is not the manager we want but given where we are at least there has been some movement into the club. As much as I like Sears, he is not going to get us goals so a move back to Colchester would probably be in the interest of all parties. The club is living beyond its means so we have to shed some freeloaders. Reasons to be a bit more cheerful ? We will see in the coming weeks.

All the best Troy, smash the ball in the onion bag umpteen times as nobody will!

BBC Sport has just confirmed that Spurs switched Troy Parrott to a club that will play him as a striker. Let's hope that is absolutely true and he is as good as Spurs think he will be. Millwall not happy !

Good luck indeed, but stinks of a death-throws panic loanee. Our 46 man squad is bigger than all but two Premier League clubs. Can Parrott manage by any chance? I've got to the stage where I'd prefer a decent fantasy football manager to Lambert.

Hope he's not as sick as... after tomorrow's game!

I hope I'm wrong but I can't see this changing anything. We only play with one isolated striker and the service to him is infrequent and poor. Harry Kane would struggle for goals in our team so it's asking a lot of a lad of 18, who has only played a dozen games and hasn't scored a goal yet!

Drop all the injured and the over 30's.

Go with a new under 25 team with new loan players and the best ITFC youngsters playing in their right positions and playing attacking football.

Spurs wanted the Irish international to play as a central striker rather than wide - did they know he will be running around like a headless chicken on his own?

Maybe what PL means when he says we cant play 2 up front is that the players we have cannot and now he has the Spurs loanee we can? Hope or foolishness on my part. We will find out against Blackpool how many loan players will start.

Fantastic, we've only been waiting 20 years for somebody to get it going!

Regardless of everything else at the club recently, this is a GREAT signing for Town and gives us a chance of turning things around in the direction of the playoffs. Previously the playoff prospect did nothing for me as our team had no prospect of winning big games with our poor strikers. I can see this signing having a knock-on effect on our midfielders too. Play him every week.
