Two Linked to Celtic
Two Linked to Celtic

This morning’s top Town rumour is that Richard Wright is a target for new Celtic manager Martin O’Neill.

It is not a rarity for the Town keeper to be mentioned in the same breath as a top club, but given his contract circumstances any speculation must be taken with at least some seriousness.

Wright has said that he wants to sit down with David Sheepshanks and thrash out a new deal, but if a deal does fall through with Town there is every possibility that Town would want to get as much for the England keeper as they could.

At the end of next season Wright’s contract is up and he would be available to go abroad on a Bosman or, as he will still be under 24, to a British club for a greatly reduced fee.

Celtic and O’Neill are also being linked with Town’s David Johnson, but this looks to have no substance in it whatsoever.

The stories surrounding Town’s interest in centre-halves David Holdsworth and Andreas Jakobsson and midfielder Craig Hignett are all still hitting the back pages, but with nothing concrete on any of them so far. The deal for Martijn Reuser is yet to be completed with Vitesse Arnhem.
