O'Neil: Emersonn's Fine

Town boss Gary O’Neil has confirmed striker Emersonn is fine for Friday night’s live Sky game against Liverpool at Portman Road, while midfielder Florentino Luis will also be available.
Emersonn was subbed at half-time during Sunday’s 5-2 defeat at Old Trafford with having jarred his knee with concerns that the Brazilian might have suffered a serious injury.
However, O’Neil allayed those worries at his Thursday lunchtime press conference.
“He’s fine, Emmy’s fine,” he said, “He was in a lot of pain Sunday. Obviously, he had to come off, he wasn’t moving very well.
But the pain settled very, very quickly. It was sort of an extreme landing, jarred it a bit. But stuff like that, it can settle quickly and the medical team did a great job with him.
“The new training ground and the facilities have definitely helped with that as well. So his recovery has been excellent and no concerns about him this weekend.”
Florentino is yet to make his debut having picked up a calf issue in pre-season, but O’Neil says the former Burnley man is now ready to be involved.
“He’s back,” he said. “He’s trained this week do he’s back. Emmy’s back, T [Florentino] is back, Azor [Matusiwa] is back in training [having undergone surgery at the end of last season], but won’t be in the matchday squad tomorrow. He’s a bit too early.
“Jack Taylor’s still out [also having undergone surgery]. Jaden [Philogene, ankle], too early this weekend. But we’re in a pretty good place.”
Third-choice keeper Alex Palmer is also still struggling with an issue picked up in pre-season.
“He still hasn’t trained fully,” O’Neil said. “Palm’s still got something with his shoulder, but nothing too serious, we expect him to be back around it soon.”
