The Blue Monday-TWTD Podcast - Mark Detmer Special
Tuesday, 11th May 2021 17:21

The new collaboration between TWTD and Blue Monday got under way this afternoon with a podcast with new Town co-owner Mark Detmer, speaking to independent media for the first time since the takeover.

Detmer is one of the Three Lions, along with Brett Johnson and Berke Bakay, who own five per cent of Gamechanger 20 Ltd, who recently took ownership of the Blues, and is also a co-founding co-owner of USL club Phoenix Rising.

The 49-year-old spoke at length about getting involved with the Phoenix Rising, the parallels with the takeover of Town, that takeover, the importance of community, the relationship between the Three Lions and chairman Mike O'Leary and new CEO Mark Ashton, the pension fund which owns 90 per cent of Gamechanger 20 and much much more.

It's worth mentioning here that whilst Mark Detmer owns around 1.69% of ITFC via Gamechanger 20 Ltd and is described as "co-owner", Marcus Evans still owns around 5% of ITFC via Gamechanger 20 Ltd and is invariably described as "ex ITFC owner".
Also it is ORG Az Secondary Opportunity Fund LP that owns the remaining 90% of Gamechanger 20 Ltd.
ORG Secondary Opportunity Fund LP is a real estate fund and is described as "A real estate fund pools the capital of various investors for the purpose of equity and debt investments in property.
Nothing there about managing football or sports facilities.
You just have to wonder why a real estate fund managed by a company that specialises in real estate wants to invest in a 3rd tier English football club that with the best will in the world is extremely unlikely to make profits by getting to the Premier League and sustaining their stay in that league in the next 5 years.

That was brilliant, I was smiling through out that.
Mark seems a genuine and decent bloke with sensible ideas and a plan.
His level of engagement bodes well and I think we have some great years to come, on and off the pitch.
Consequently I think my shirt from last season will become a collectors item, the nadir when only Town fans were Town fans.

We have Ed now, expect to see Town shirts everywhere.
