MK Dons Eyeing Bishop Move
Wednesday, 23rd Jun 2021 09:08

MK Dons are keen to sign Blues midfielder Teddy Bishop, TWTD understands with their interest well progressed.

The 24-year-old is contracted to Town for another season, his appearances during 2020/21 having triggered a one-year option, but along with most of the rest of the squad has been told he can find another club this summer.

TWTD revealed in May that Bishop’s hometown club Cambridge United want to bring him to the Abbey Stadium having won promotion to League One after finishing second in League Two.

And now we understand MK, who finished 13th in League One last season, are showing strong interest with the potential deal some way down the line.

The academy product made 29 starts and eight sub appearances in 2020/21, scoring four times, the most he has played since the play-off season with injury having hampered the intervening campaigns.

I would prefer to keep him at least until we see more coming in. I think injuries have had an impact on his performance but last season he had 28 games so who knows the worst might be behind him. I would like to see how he plays with some of the new arrivals.

Under the ancien régime I would not have been surprised to see us sell before we brought a new player in but we have new owners so I assume cash is not that tight!

A word of caution there will be more exits than new arrivals if we are to have a slimmed down squad.

We simply cannot allow players like Bishop, Downes and Lankester to go until we have replacements that are at least as good but hopefully better than them.

We let Wilson go before getting a replacement which was a mistake but all the other departures so far have been sensible.

Good, another overrated sicknote who's failed miserably.

Good player when not injured,

Good League 1 Player at best so maybe send him out on loan will be better for him to get a run of games etc,

Does Cook realise you need 22 players for a training game or is he intending to play practice games against Copleston or Northgate High School football teams on Wednesday afternoons?

I'm torn on this one. Bishop has shown in flashes what he's capable of in a career beset by injury. At 24 it's time for him to kick on and the jury's out as to whether he will do that here. Cook wants a small squad of tough players he can depend on. Not sure Bishop fits the bill.

That said, he will probably flourish at MK Dons.

shows his potential on occasions but he is not concistant ,and is a fitness liability , it is unfortunate for him , but its a tough game and we need tough players, if he goes i wish him luck, and the club he goes to will need some luck too.
