![]() Tuesday, 15th Oct 2002 22:29 Brian Talbot has today removed himself out of the running for the vacant manager's job at Ipswich. After a meeting with his Chairman, he agreed that there was work still to be done and would honour his contract. Afterwards he said: "Everyone knows that the Chairman has been fantastic here, but someone has to run it. And me and Mark Darnell have run it for five and a half years, and in my opinion we¹ve done well. We're proud of it, we've got a lovely training centre, a fantastic stadium, a community scheme, we've gone full-time and got into the Football League. And I want to establish it as a League club. It's not my club, I'm not the boss I'm just the manager. But when I drive in each morning I look around at what we've done and I've been part of so many things I'm not ready to leave yet. "I've thought long and hard about what I want to do, and we as a family - Sandra, myself and our children - we feel that the right thing to do is to stay with Rushden & Diamonds at this moment in time, irrespective of what other clubs might come in for me."
