Karic Leaves Town
Karic Leaves Town

Slovenian international Amir Karic has had his contract with Town terminated by mutual consent. Karic made just three Town appearances, all as sub and all in the Worthington Cup, in two years with the club.

Karic's signing marked the beginning of the end for George Burley's magic touch in the transfer market. The Slovenian was brought from NK Maribor in September 2000 for £700,000 after George Burley had been impressed with him at Euro 2000.

Sadly the left-sided defender or midfielder failed to make the grade here and was even unimpressive in a loan spell at Crystal Palace in the First Division.

Last season Karic made his frustrations known to the press and spent a spell on loan with former club Maribor back in his home country.

The Blues spent the summer trying to off-load his £7,000-a-week wage, but with no success.
