Norwood Linked With Barnsley
Thursday, 14th Jul 2022 14:07

Released Blues striker James Norwood is reportedly close to joining League One Barnsley.

The 31-year-old was released by Town at the end of 2021/22 after three years at the club and had seemed set to join Bristol Rovers last month only for manager Joey Barton to pull the plug on the deal at with the move all but done.

Now, according to the EADT, Norwood is close to signing for the Tykes, who are in need of attacking recruits with front pair Cauley Woodrow and Carlton Morris both having joined Luton this summer.

Norwood was understood to be interesting a number of League One sides with Charlton, Portsmouth, Oxford and Plymouth all believed to have shown interest.

The former Tranmere man scored 27 goals in 57 starts and 28 appearances from the bench for the Blues.

Good luck to him. With Barnsley in need of strikers he'll get a chance. I don't reckon we'll regret letting him leave. We need to aim higher now.

Spot on TB in HK, he was never going to be allowed to stay here given his DD record, i like the lads weve brought in up top and im sure pne more will be coming, i wish Nors well but hes part of the past now

He's going to have a good look round the pubs before signing.

TBH who cares , ex player , i'm more bothered about the here and now about IPSWICH players and potential recruits . His reckless off the pitch demeanour was not befitting of a family club atmosphere

wonder if all those mentioning his DD would still be wanting him gone had he knocked in 20 goals last season , personally i was happy to see him go for his on pitch weaknesses, injuries, and temperament .

Interesting comments regarding the DD antics of Norwood.

Are those making such comments happy to take the same stance with other players if/when they do the same?

I don't think Norwood is/was unique with poor conduct of this nature.

If he's learnt his lesson then we move on eh?

I'm not really interested where our ex-players go tbh, I'm focussed on our current squad plus those who might join us.

Norwood will do OK wherever he goes but he ain't that much

I still think he is better than the other options at the moment, we need to get someone decent in asap

Goals and assits per game are good so will score goals who ever he signs for, for me he get 4 in 4 games and then nothing for the next 4 then out injured

Ipswich Town have some pretty disgraceful followers - some extremely vindictive comments about Norwood.
There will never be valid excuse for bad behaviour - but he is far from being the first of such a player ‘on the books' categorised as such, some conveniently overlooked by the same critics.
He's made mistakes, learnt lessons no doubt in doing so, and shown lack of respect.
But - Haven't YOU at some point in YOUR life done likewise ??
Whatever - he's a Good Player still - and we may well miss him.
He's not the kind of Player that Defenders like playing against !!
Just ask a few !!
