U21s Game at Millwall Off as Town Set to Take Younger Squad to Cambridge
Monday, 17th Oct 2022 09:42

Town’s U21s match at Millwall this afternoon has been postponed ahead of tomorrow’s Papa Johns Trophy tie at Cambridge United.

Regular members of the U21s squad are set to be involved with the first-team party travelling to the Abbey Stadium to take on the U’s in the final group game.

“We will look at the balance of the team over the next 24 hours and try and get a team out that gives minutes to those who need and would benefit from them and enough strength around them to be close to how we would want to look,” manager Kieran McKenna said following Saturday’s game against Lincoln.

“But it's also a chance maybe to look at some of the younger players who have been training with us and put them hopefully in a team that will give them a chance to do well as well.

“The team and the squad will certainly be younger than it has been for the first two games.”

Town are all but qualified for the round of 32, standing three points clear of Arsenal’s U21s and Cambridge after the first two matches with a vastly superior goal difference.

Makes sense with progression to the next round all but secured and more importantly, a difficult run of league fixtures ahead.
