Town Set to Break iFollow Record at Fleetwood
Tuesday, 2nd May 2023 11:22

Town look set to break iFollow records on Sunday with Sky Sports confirming that the Blues’ final-day match at Fleetwood, which could see Kieran McKenna’s already-promoted side claim the League One title, won’t be shown live.

If Town secure more points at the Highbury Stadium than leaders Plymouth manage from their final match at Port Vale, then the Blues will be champions.

Sky have confirmed that they will be screening the play-off-place-deciding Barnsley-Peterborough and Sheffield Wednesday-Derby final-day fixtures.

The club are anticipating more than 10,000 fans watching the Fleetwood match on the iFollow Ipswich streaming service. Previously, Town sold more than 9,500 for the visit to Barnsley, the most sold by a club for an EFL match this season.

Town are yet to to confirm whether there will be a beam-back to Portman Road, which if it does go ahead will be in the FanZone rather than the main pitch where the Cambridge match was shown earlier in the season.

As reported earlier, work on this summer’s extensive pitch renovation is already under way.

The Fleetwood match will be Town’s last on iFollow with the Blues starting their own in-house TownTV service from the beginning of next season.

Our coverage on Sky over the last decade has been pathetic - glad I ditched them last year.

Has there been any update regarding the Town TV for next year?
I have been an overseas ifollow subscriber for many years and I am really looking forward to see what improvements ITFC can make on the coverage!

Anyone who says they can't watch 3pm games are incorrect. Download a vpn and watch them all

It's ridiculous really why they aren't showing it and you can't watch ifollow on your tv ! I surely can't be on my own in having a decent tv and don't really want to watch a game on my computer I can't see why you can't get I follow on your tv will we be able to. Use the new service nxt year on smart tvs ?

Sky's league one coverage may as well have been called Sheffield Wednesday V……fill in missing team. Since January it's been nothing but Sheffield Wednesday. No Ipswich what's so ever, despite being the best team in the world of current form tables.

I suppose Wednesday can have their next 3/4 matches shown live, still may not get them promoted !

MunichBlue, I'm waiting to hear about that. I want to get a season ticket for Town TV for next year. I watched the Exeter game on iFollow as it was a momentous match. I've decided to subscribe as I'm just sitting in front of my computer most matches feining to do some work when I'm just watching the score updates and in the chatroom. I suppose it won't be possible to subscribe to watch all of our matches if we get to the Premier League.

superblues9 I watched by connecting to the internet app and using the url for iFollow, it was a pain to do, but an ok solution for one match. I'm going to set up my PC so that it can cast to my TV ready for next season!

The work arounds for getting iFollow onto a tv just show what a pile of junk that service is. That said, I think I read somewhere that its the EFL that stops the casting ability. I fear TownTV will have to follow suit, Anyone seen any factual info about the TownTV plans that we can view? COYB!

Isn't it UEFA that dictates who can watch live games on a Saturday?

They're a Bunch o knobs if so ….

Keefer these are not work arounds but the reality of an internet based subscription service like iFollow.....and Town TV. Appreciate that it might be bothersome, but the rules are not set by the Clubs, and it is still a heck of a lot easier than the 8 hour round trip many of us made to Barnsley last week ! Having seen what Carlton TV looks like, we should hope that with Town TV the volume and quality of content will improve, but you will still need to either use a web browser on your TV or firestick, connect a phone or laptop to your TV, or simply watch on a computer.

How can the battle for 6th be more important than the battle for 1st?

Bad enough for us not being on, but if Plymouth win the league it will be a hell of an achievement by them and for Sky to not be there to record and acknowledge that is just plain wrong

I bet if it was Sheff Wed in our position and we had finished 3rd, SKY would have still shown Sheff Wed. SKY's League 1 coverage is basically Sheff Wed TV.

Surely some of our away games will still be on ifollow next season depending on the oppositions broadcasting setup/contract or is it not the norm in the Championship?

Apparently the Town TV coverage will be handled by a company based in Scotland...

Tommyc the answer is that winning the league is not that important. Promotion is the prize, winning the league is just icing on the cake.

PortmanTerrorist: thanks. I get what you're saying and it fits with what I'd read earlier. iFollow is still poor and I'm hoping for a quality jump. Still not sure why there's a casting restriction. I've failed to get the EFL App for my Android Shield (perhaps I need to look again). I'm in Canada so it's my only option to view the games (although I did get home for 5 games this fantastic season)...and I'd simply like to watch it on a big screen instead of an iPad.

I have an older Mac mini, all I do is connect that to my smart tv and use that as a monitor. No work around needed. Its still through the browser but set to full screen and its just like watching a normal broadcast on tv.

Yes, I'm pretty ancient (first game at Portman Road 1954), but even I sussed it. VPN to convince ifollow you're out of the country on a Saturday, watch it on a tablet or cast to your smart TV (possibly easier if your TV and tablet are the same make). I do agree though that ifollow is one of the clunkiest apps I've ever used!!
