Baggott Adds to Caps in Indonesia Defeat
Monday, 19th Jun 2023 15:53

Blues centre-half Elkan Baggott won his 16th full cap as Indonesia were beaten 2-0 by Argentina in Jakarta this afternoon.

Baggott played the full 90 minutes as Leandro Paredes and Cristian Romero netted goals either side of half-time to see the visitors to victory.

Argentina were without Lionel Messi, who went away on holiday following last Thursday’s 2-0 victory over Australia.

The game was Indonesia’s second and final June friendly, last Wednesday’s game against Palestine having ended 0-0.

Baggott looks to be something of a star player in that Indonesia team. He cleared one off the line with superb last ditch defending, and seemed to be up for all the attacks, causing havoc in the Argentina box. He must be so chuffed that Romero asked for his shirt! I just wonder if he is ready to play a part for ITFC this season.

Possibly if we had stayed in league one he might have been included in the squad but he is way off championship level and McKenna will be looking at players at a much higher level now. Another loan is on the cards in league one im afraid.
