Town Launch New Membership Scheme
Tuesday, 11th Jul 2023 18:12

Town have announced their revised membership scheme ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.

The Blues have reviewed the existing schemes and have made wider ranging changes than had been anticipated.

A new single membership has been introduced for all adult supporters, the Super Blues membership package priced at £39.99, which will be available to buy here from 10am on Thursday 13th July.

Home games

For games at Portman Road, Super Blues members will receive priority for ticket sales, with non-season ticket holders at the head of the queue. All priority sales will be limited to one ticket per member.

Typical sales window for home games:
Monday, 10am — Super Blues members who are not season ticket holders.
Wednesday, 10am — Super Blues members who are season ticket holders.
Friday, 10am — Season ticket holders.
Monday, 10am — General sale.

The club reserves the right to monitor attendances and add additional priority levels.

Away games

Away sales will be prioritised towards Super Blues members and will work using a newly structured Away Priority Points scheme.

Initially, points will be awarded historically, based on away games attended by members during the 2022/23 season. Going forward, points will only be awarded to active Super Blues members, one point for every away ticket purchased.

Points will be visible on supporters’ online ticketing account in due course to help fans know where they stand in the priority windows.

Those purchasing a Super Blues membership will be awarded a five-point bonus at the point of purchase.

Ahead of the 2024/25 season, any points awarded from the 2022/23 season will be wiped down, therefore supporters will only carry one season’s worth of points into the next. This will be the process ahead of every new season with the oldest season’s collected points being wiped down.

Prior to each away game going on sale, the club will communicate how many points will be required to guarantee a ticket, which will be available at a rate of one per member.

Example sales window for away games:
Monday, 10am — Super Blues members with 30+ points.
Tuesday, 10am — Super Blues members with 25+ points.
Wednesday, 10am — Super Blues members with 20+ points.
Thursday, 10am — Super Blues members with 15+ points.
Friday, 10am — Super Blues members with 5+ points.
Monday, 10am — Season ticket holders.
Tuesday, 10am — General sale.

In addition to priority access to home and away tickets, a Super Blues membership also comes with a range of benefits, including:

I'm so confused. I just gave up my membership and got my first season ticket in 35 years this year. I go to loads of home and away games but I live in Hertfordshire so I thought I'd I get a season ticket so I can see all the games I want, whenever I want. I think I've more than earnt the right to. What does this membership thing mean? I am so confused. Am I worse off by getting a season ticket?

The discussion about being able to buy seats near your family.
In J block - Under Hurst you could pick pretty much pick your seat(s) around anyone left sitting there.
Now when tickets go on sale there is 1 ticket left in the whole block - you aren't getting near your friends or family whether you pay £40 or not.
Around the ground the tickets left for sale are in corners in the top tiers, not near your friends.
I do not know whether a scheme exists at ITFC but maybe a way of season ticket holders being able to resell their tickets when they cannot attend - e.g when Sky have F'd up the date again would be good and help the more casual attendee get a ticket.

Gold memberships for me and the wife didn't work for us last year. Couldn't get a ticket home or away, season ticket holders got in first. I know many and they all admitted getting tickets for mates.
I hope this works for us Kent living Towen fans. We used to do 10 to 15 home and away games a season and want to again.

I just buy a home ticket if I go to an away game. It's much less
hassle. Just remember to be as quiet as most of the supporters of Div 1 teams are !
The grounds will have more atmosphere in the championship though.

I've only been a season ticket holder for the last eleven years but been supporting the club since before Bobby Robson's time. I for one won't be paying for this new membership as health issues limit me to home games at the moment, as much as I would like to go to away games health and monetary issues limit what I can and cannot do.
Backing from our new sponsors ultimately comes at a cost and the cost of supporting our club is not going down. They don't have a bottomless pit money wise and the club will need to generate as much cash as it which will mean fans having to shell out more. If Hirst is to be signed that's going to cost £4 million, couple that with the £1.5 million for Taylor and an undisclosed fee for Slicker add on another £2 million for the pitch the money has to come from somewhere.

This feels exclusionary and retrograde. How do you now sit together with mates? Not all of us live in Suffolk and it used to be a highlight to get to PR a few times a year with a few close friends. Don't see how that works with this system Shame and guess I won't be making the trip now

"Typical sales window for home games:
Monday, 10am — Super Blues members who are not season ticket holders.
Wednesday, 10am — Super Blues members who are season ticket holders."

That makes sense so far as it prioritises members who don't already have a match ticket over those who do.

'...Friday, 10am — Season ticket holders.
Monday, 10am — General sale."

But then for non-members, priority is given to those who already have a match ticket over those who don't. That makes no sense to me.

I thought this was supposed to streamline the process - it has made it overcomplicated. Last season was different in that a lot of away games were at low capacity stadiums. This season is different with the lowest capacity away stadium being Rotherham at 12,000. Season ticket holders should not be so far down the list. This is the first really poor decision the new regime have made and is against logic.

After all they hard work re-engaging with fans this looks a backward step. Should have consulted on this to gauge views on what a scheme might look like, got a customers views and then tweaked to a majority view. It looks very cash cow and limited benefit to any form of supporter. Wait for the next cash cow - Town TV ! Poor Town!

This is the first thing the club have got wrong in a very long time!
I went to 7 Away games last season and will get zero credit over someone buying a membership for the first time this year, gaining 5 points. I will have 12 points but there is no window for someone with 10+ points. Instead I'll go into the 5+ window (with every new member).

Really disappointing!

Anyone old enough to remember the fuss for tickets after promotion in 2000? I was 16, and was unable to afford a season ticket, meaning that I only got to watch about five games per year inder the ‘ballot' system.

Success brings increased clamour for tickets, and some of us will inevitably miss out for not being able to commit to a ST. Overall I'd still rather have a full stadium!

Blue_75 added 07:58 - Jul 12
Correction to my previous post, it seems we also receive 5 points from the previous year's membership. Using me as an example I have 6 league games + 5 points from last year's membership, giving 11 points.
When I buy a membership this year I'll have 16 points.
That's a better situation!

I have committed and bought a season ticket, won't be able to make all games but knew if I wanted to go regularly its a cost I would have to swallow, its the price of success, rather the ground full than 2/3 empty like it was under a previous regime! How is it right I have less chance of getting an away ticket after paying for a season ticket?

Will be writing to the club for an explanation, this has not been thought through!

I was worried I wasn't going to be able to get a ticket for homes games let alone away this season living where I do in Orkney. This does allow that.
I can see the perspective of season tickets holders mind, but what you need to understand is, particularly those nearer PR, I'm not sure about other longer distance fans but it costs me as much as a season ticket for ONE trip to PR. Meaning if I'm lucky enough to get a couple trips, I too have spent a lot of money to follow the club.
The club is for everyone to follow and they'll never come up with something that will please everyone.
Also, re the sitting with pals and family. That is annoying that this scheme may get in the way of that but even in L1, particularly last season I had to sit away from my friends and family then anyway so unless you have kids that would need an adult with them that actually shouldn't affect too much to be honest. I'd rather be at PR and get my fix in truth wherever I have to sit.
I like, no, wait, LOVE, away days too they might be limited of course but bigger away allocations in Championship too so I might get lucky who knows.
£39.99 though is very, very steep.

Surely it's a matter of sharing the love a bit.if it's always the same people with season tickets who get all the away tickets then fewer people get the opportunity to watch the games in person. That's going to be fewer shirt sales, less interest during tough times and all the other knock on effects.

Baino added 08:38 - Jul 12
Also, having just thought about it, if a fan who doesn't have a season ticket gets priority for home games and has membership and they have mates who do have season tickets, well then if there are seats free near them they'll have first dibs anyway just like last season and before getting a season ticket holder to buy them the ticket, no? So the only change really is that they'll get the benefits in terms of points not the season ticket holder. That makes is fairer.

....instead of relying on season ticket holders I mean.

This is pretty much in line with other clubs. Derby county have a very similar scheme but they limit the number of members as they had more members than available tickets

36 years as a season ticket holder and l get this? Truly woeful. Ashton has overreached himself here.

BlueFarmy. The thing is,it was broken. The issue with the Cambridge natch proved that. Fans simply went out, bought a gold card and got tickets for thst gone, while fans whod been to most or all away games,we're unable to do so. So something had to change. Do think they should initially, have gone back further than last season , with fans history mind you. The price is a hard one. For gold card holders, it's obviously a big jump up. But for the ultimate card holders, they'll be saving money, but I guess won't get their tickets automatically delivered to them anymore. So there's plusses and mi uses for everyone really. And was never gonna be an ideal solution for everyone. Maybe they could make an odd tweak to it but overall, it prob as much as they old do. And guess it may not be until the next year that the benefit of it will really kick in.

Mark I would scrap this idea. Season ticket holders pay to follow the club even through rough times so they should have the choice of extra home tickets or in purchasing away tickets before others. The people who take on this £39.99 idea are a lot of the moaners and groaners who come twice a year and boo the team off when things aren't going well and now have the opportunity to jump the queue a head of season ticket holders. Season ticket holders have sat through some rubbish in the last 10 years until Gamechanger took over and this is the thanks we get for our loyal support. This idea is not a GAMECHANGER whoever thought this up, hang your head in shame.

Attached. For 1, why do u assume its Ashton who came uo with the scheme? We have a team of people who deal with this type of thing. 2. It has little effect on season ticket holders, unless u don't buy a membership. So ur choice whether to or not. If you don't, then that's u don't get the benefits it dies bring. So no different in that way,to the old scheme

Bert added 10:38 - Jul 12
Oh dear, the email from the club hails this as a simplified scheme. I may be getting old but this new membership scheme seems unnecessarily complicated and pricey. Whilst it does give people who cannot invest in a season ticket a better chance of getting a home ticket, there is very little incentive for season tickets holders to make this membership purchase bearing in mind that most championship grounds have greater capacity. The club have not got the balance right on this.

Season ticket holder since 1966 with a few years out for family reasons and woefull management, always thought that I should by now own my seat !. I am guessing that when Town TV is launched we will all need to be members anyway to watch games.......does anyone know how other clubs run their TV systems for loyal fans ?. It certainly is a GAMECHANGER !. more to follow no doubt.
