![]() Wednesday, 8th Jan 2003 07:34 Town have turned down an attempt by Birmingham City to take Hermann Hreidarsson on loan. TWTD has been reporting Steve Bruce's interest in the Icelander since late November. Yesterday the Blues accepted a fee of £1.5 million including bonuses for Jamie Clapham, a move the versatile 27-year-old is thinking over. Despite Town's need to reduce the wage bill the move for Hreidarsson, who turned down a switch to West Brom in the summer, was rejected by Joe Royle. Steve Bruce has had a representative at innumerable Town games over the last few months, including the away leg of the UEFA Cup tie with Slovan Liberec. Reports today also claim that Spurs may be interested in taking Marcus Bent to White Hart Lane, although this reportedly depends on a number of players leaving first. Ukrainian misfit Sergei Rebrov could be joining Fenerbahce in Turkey while Les Ferdinand may also be on his way out of North London. Hoddle first expressed an interest in Bent back in May, saying of the Town man: "He's a good young player who has done reasonably well. There is nothing happening at the moment but he is a player we have been monitoring." Joe Royle says he is yet to hear anything from Hoddle regarding Bent who Spurs are reported to value at £2 million.
