Additional Sales Restriction For Norwich Tickets
Tuesday, 21st Nov 2023 17:20

Town have added an additional sales restriction for tickets to the Saturday 16th December Norwich City derby at Portman Road, which go on sale on Monday from 10am.

The game, which is being shown live on Sky Sports kicking off at 12.30pm, has been selected as an A grade fixture.

Super Blues Members who aren’t season ticket holders will need to have purchased at least three home league match tickets from the start of the 2022/23 season up to and including the Swansea City game earlier in the month.

Sales to 2023/24 members who are non-season ticket holders and meet the sales criteria start on Monday at 10am, while 2023/24 members with a 2023/24 season ticket can buy tickets from Wednesday 29th November at 10am.

Sales to 2023/24 season ticket holders start on Friday 1st December at 10am. General sale dates will be announced in due course, subject to availability.

Tickets will be available to purchase as normal online from tickets.itfc.co.uk or in Planet Blue. Full details on the club site.

Three matches across a season and a bit is very generous. Could've easily made it more than that and I don't think people could've complained that much.

There won’t be a seat available 20 mins after they’ve gone on sale. Full house - AGAIN!

So when can super blues members who have not been to 3 game’s purchase?

This is very poor. The main benefit of the membership was to give non season ticket holders a chance to go to a match ahead of them all getting snapped up as extras by season ticket holders. I’ve got three young family members who have bought memberships (not season tickets like I have) and ‘only’ bought two home tickets so far, yet they are being completely overlooked and won’t be able to go to this match. Instead they’ll be bought by season ticket holders and sold or given to people who have t expressed any interest or commitment to the club thus far. That’s a terrible plan from ITFC, their first big mistake, but for THE biggest match since they’ve taken over.

Or have I missed something??

20000 plus fans wanting 6000 tickets was always going to be difficult and whatever priority system put in place was going to disappoint most.

Perhaps the club having some kind of live screening may compensate,
can't see how that would work in the fanzine,
but what about Playford Rd?
See the team off, loads of ex players, entertainment and then watch match live.

It's quite hilarious how many people think they should be entitled to a ticket for our biggest game in years, despite clearly not attending games on a regular basis. I live 4-5hrs away and go when I can. I don't qualify for a ticket and nor would I expect to!

The membership process and points scheme is a very fair way of doing it. The loyal fans who attend the most games deserve priority and it's crazy to me that some people don't seem to agree.

I feel sympathy for anyone who bought a membership believing it would give them priority over others in getting tickets particularly those fans who live out of the area and can't always get to every home game.
Truth is the Norwich game was always going to be a sell out and tickets would be like Rocking Horse $h!t.
The idea of putting up a big screen somewhere is a good one but it couldn't happen at Portman Road for H & S reasons and I very much doubt Sky TV would allow it.

Blueblood90, it’s not hilarious at all.

If you read the post carefully my point is that members who have paid a fee and been to 2 home games, or even 5 away games, should have priority (as promoted at the time in the literature to market those memberships) over someone being gifted (or paying £500 on black market) a ticket that a current season ticket holder has obtained as an extra.

Three tickets up to and including Swansea tickets, going back to 2022/23 (rather than 2023/24 season) is quite a large window.

Log on at 09.45hrs Monday, have an idea of where you want to sit, get your mouse & keyboard on red-alert and be as quick as Wes Burn's - that my advise!

It certainly makes you wonder, regardless of if we get promotion, what's the chances of nicking a (vastly increased) Season Ticket for next season

Best of luck to you all at Beat The Buzzer at 09.58 Monday!

Definitely the fairest way of doing it, I guess the only fallback being if you want to go with a friend and/or family, you'll have to wait until general sale (potentially won't even make it that far) given the one ticket per membership guidelines.

We all knew it was going to be a match of high demand, and personally , i feel that if you haven't been to three matches out of 11 or so this season and what, 30 approximately last year, can you really complain if, purchase wise, you're down the pecking order?

It is what it is, I'm afraid.

I myself am hoping on general sale, but then again, i'm also hoping on taking Margot Robbie as my date to my works Xmas party, both of which, seem just as unlikely.

Chappie. Think you need to read them article again. You clearly havent got it. Aeason ticketcholders are among the last fo getcazchancexto buy tickets. Also have ur kids not been to just one game last season? If not, then afraidxyoy have to accept they barely deserve attacker for this game. Know ur saying thats what memberships are for. Well actually they're mainly for away games, but regardless of that, you have to accept that this is an exceptional case. Andxtge whole point of this extra restriction, is to stop fans whove not even bee not one home game, from literally going out and buying a membership, purely to get tickets for this game, this preventing those who have, the chance to get a ticket.

Any system will have its detractors so the club are on a hiding to nothing regardless. As someone who only usually is able to make the northern away fixtures I accept that I’m hardly ever going to be at the front of the queue for these type of matches. It is what it is and I begrudgingly accept that. The silver lining will be a stuffed budgie at the end of the day.

Sell outs are becoming a permanent fixture, we need more capacity @ PR sooner rather than later. Let's face it we sold out most of last season's League One games in the final push. The only way to satisfy demand is to increase capacity. We could probably sell 26000 season tickets without much effort even now, so we need to be thinking about 40000 eventually. (If &) When we get to the PL we have to give a minimum of 3000 away tickets.

I spoke to the Ticket Office Manager today for 45 mins to argue the point that some members won’t be able to buy tickets until after Season Ticket holders have been able to purchase tickets for ANYONE (Town fans, Norwich fans or their next door neighbour who has never been to a football match). They have something wrong here !!!!

I'm sorry, if you haven't been to 3 matches in the last 30, when we've had the most exciting football in the last 20 years, why on earth do you think you deserve a ticket for this one?

chappie added 21:27 - Nov 22
Sambean44, exactly, glad someone else sees the point. They’ve made a bad mistake here

Whether people “deserve” a ticket is a little beside the point in this instance. The club have decided to operate a new membership scheme. This season and the details were advertised as below in July 2023

“Typical sales window for home league games:

Monday, 10am – Super Blues members who are not season ticket holders.
Wednesday, 10am – Super Blues members who are season ticket holders.
Friday, 10am – Season ticket holders.
Monday, 10am – General sale.
The Club reserves the right to monitor attendances and add additional priority levels to sales “

It does mention “additional” priority levels for certain games . However it doesn’t say it will add restrictions or completely withdraw the right for someone with a membership to buy a ticket for a home game if they haven’t bought 3 home tickets in advance . Under consumer law you can’t sell a membership advertised as one thing and then withdraw that whenever you wish ! I have 3 home tickets but a lot of my friends due to work , family , living abroad or in other parts of the UK don’t . That’s exactly why they have bought a membership . Only for the club to change the terms and conditions . They have been stiffed by the club on this . The FAQ questions section of the membership package provided by the club also states ….

“6. How does becoming a 23/24 member differ from being a Silver member in previous seasons?

A. As a non-season ticket holder, you can also be a member and enjoy the same benefits of the membership as season ticket holders. You will be given priority to purchase one home ticket over season ticket holders as well as being able to earn points on away ticketing purchases.”

It doesn’t mention here restrictions for certain games at all nor does it mention restrictions ANYWHERE before they “mis-sold” the membership .

Certainly anyone with 3 home games should get priority as an “ additional priority level “ as mentioned above . But after that they should legally honour what they have sold the membership packages as and give priority to members before selling season ticket holders an additional ticket . And certainly before they go on General sale . And then next year add in the “ restrictions “ when selling the membership . Legally and morally .

And now , onwards to stuff the S**m 5-1
