Burns and O'Shea Start at Brighton
Saturday, 14th Sep 2024 14:05

Town boss Kieran McKenna has made two changes for this afternoon’s game at Brighton and Hove Albion with Wes Burns and Dara O’Shea coming into the XI.

O’Shea comes in for his Town full league debut on the right of the central defensive duo alongside Jacob Greaves with Luke Woolfenden left out of the 20-man squad.

Burns returns from his hamstring injury and comes in on the right of the three behind striker Liam Delap with Chiedozie Ogbene on the bench.

Omari Hutchinson looks set to be in the centre of the three with Sammie Szmodics on the left.

George Hirst is back in the squad on the bench following his knee injury, while former Blues defender Adam Webster is among the subs for Brighton.

The Seagulls make two changes from the team which drew 1-1 at Arsenal a fortnight ago with Joao Pedro and James Milner dropping out due to injury and Georginio Rutter and Yasin Ayari coming into the team.

Town: Muric, Tuanzebe, O’Shea, Greaves, Davis, Morsy (c), Phillips, Burns, Hutchinson, Szmodics, Delap. Subs: Walton, Johnson, Townsend, Luongo, Cajuste, Ogbene, Clarke, Chaplin, Hirst.

Brighton: Verbruggen, Dunk (c), Georginio, Minteh, Welbeck, Baleba, Mitoma, Ayari, Van Hecke, Veltman, Hinshelwood. Subs: Steele, Igor, Webster, Enciso, Adingra, Moder, Kadioglu, Ferguson, Estupinan. Referee: Sam Barrott (West Riding). VAR: Michael Salisbury (Lancashire).

Hirst back so soon! It makes you wonder what all the fuss about a striker in late August was about. Especially Broja, given he won't be back for weeks.

And I thought Woolfenden had started the season well. But in McK we trust :-)

We all know what Woolfie can do (I'm praising him) but we need to see what O'Shea is like next to Greaves , who I think has been excellent so far.

Maccaisgod. Johnson and Townsend can both play cb if required. Or Phillips could drop in there

I don't think anybody said Muric was a rubbish shot stopper, what people have said is that in certain parts of his game he hasnt shone and needs to do better, which in my opinion were justified comments, comments i am sure Muric would agree with.
