Fans to Stage Minute's Applause in Tribute to Teenager Friday, 27th Sep 2024 11:22 Fans are being asked to hold a minute’s applause during Sunday’s home game against Aston Villa to pay tribute to 13-year-old Taylen Ireton, who died in a crash in Colchester at the weekend. Taylen was killed when he was hit by a car in Mersea Road shortly before 9.20pm last Saturday. Three men, aged 19, 19 and 18, have been arrested in connection with the incident and bailed until December 4th. Friends and family have asked fellow supporters to stage the minute’s applause as the clock ticks past the 13-minute mark during Sunday’s match with the club set to display a photo of Taylen on the big screen. Taylen played for Wivenhoe Town’s U14s and the Colchester & District Youth Football League has asked all their teams to hold a minute’s applause before kick-off on Sunday. A GoFundMe page has raised more than £15,000 for the family.
