Burns and Broadhead Named in Wales Squad
Wednesday, 2nd Oct 2024 10:13

Blues duo Wes Burns and Nathan Broadhead have been named in the Wales squad for their October UEFA Nations League qualifiers.

It’s the first time the pair have been included in a squad since former Norwich City forward Craig Bellamy was named boss, the duo both having been out injured for the September fixtures. Bellamy is understood to be a big fan of both Burns and Broadhead.

The Welsh taken on Iceland in Reykjavík on Friday 11t October, then host Montenegro at the Cardiff City Stadium on the following Monday.

Burns has previously won eight full caps and Broadhead 12, scoring two international goals. Former Blues loanee Kieffer Moore is also in the squad, as is Brennan Johnson, son of ex-Town striker David.

Wales are currently second in their group having drawn 0-0 at home to Türkiye and beaten Montenegro 2-1 away last month.

Interesting that they have chosen to take Broadhead given his very recent recovery from injury. For once an international call up may help with offering some game time or focussed match related training.
As always hope they do well, but also stay injury free.
