U18s Beaten By Mansfield in PDL Cup
Sunday, 6th Oct 2024 18:18

The Blues’ U18s were beaten 2-0 by their Mansfield Town counterparts at Playford Road in their second PDL Cup group game on Saturday afternoon.

Dan Organ scored both goals for the Stags, who have a category three academy, a level below Town, who are looking to move up to category one.

Town are bottom of the group with no points from their first two games - they lost 6-4 at Luton in their opening match - and now stand no chance of progressing to the knockout phase.

Their final group game is at home to Peterborough United on Saturday 23rd November.

Meanwhile, the Blues’ youngsters have been drawn away against Bury Town, Leiston or Lowestoft Town in the quarter-finals of the Endeavour Automotive Suffolk Premier Cup.

Town: Fletcher, Elliot, Chenery, Heard, Frith, Towler, Boatswain, Compton, Mauge, Sains, Unadike. Subs: O’Sullian, Fleischer, Brouwers, Longwe, Nicolaou.

The quality of our academy is a big worry. We wounce were the envy of other clubs producing youngsters who went on to play for England none of this going out on loan to league one and two teams with little hope of making the first team. Wolfenden and Downes being the one exception.
