Irish Quartet Could Win Caps Sunday, 13th Oct 2024 10:20 Dara O’Shea, Sammie Szmodics and Chiedozie Ogbene will be looking to add to their caps and Jack Taylor to end his long wait for a full international debut when the Republic of Ireland face Greece in a UEFA Nations League game in Piraeus this evening (KO 7.45pm), while youngsters Woody Williamson and Ash Boatswain’s international sides are also in action today. O’Shea took his senior caps total to 29, Ogbene his to 23, scoring four times, and Szmodics his to seven when they started Thursday’s 2-1 victory over Finland in Helsinki. However, Taylor, who received the first of a number of international calls back in 2020, was once again left on the bench throughout. Following the victory over Finland, Ireland are third in Group B2 with the Greeks top after their impressive win against England on Thursday. Tonight’s game is being shown live on Viaplay International’s YouTube channel. Elsewhere, Blues keeper Aro Muric was an unused sub as Kosovo won 2-1 away in Lithuania in the Nations League yesterday. Fellow Swiss-born number one Amir Saipi, who plays for Lugano, was handed his debut having switched allegiance from Switzerland last month. Academy keeper Woody Williamson is in the Scotland U19s side which is facing Hungary in the second of two friendlies in Debrecen this morning (KO 10am). Williamson, 18, is winning his ninth U19s cap having been an unused sub in the first match, which the Scots won 2-1. Boatswain, 19, is with Montserrat, who face Bonaire in a CONCACAF Nations League tie in St Vincent, the striker having won his third full cap as the Emerald Boyz beat the same opposition 1-0 on Thursday. The game, which kicks-off at 8pm, is live on the CONCACAF YouTube channel.
