Fisher Starts as Young Lionesses Win World Cup Opener Friday, 18th Oct 2024 09:19 Ipswich Town Women’s striker Issy Fisher was in the England U17s side which opened their U17 Women's World Cup campaign with a 2-0 victory over Kenya in the Dominican Republic overnight. Fisher, 17, who joined Town on duel registration terms from Arsenal in the summer, started and played the first 62 minutes for the Young Lionesses, winning her 16th cap at U17 level. England next play Mexico on Monday before facing North Korea in their final group match next Thursday. Fisher, who has scored seven goals for the England U17s, was a member of the side which reached the final of the UEFA U17 Championship in Sweden last summer but lost 4-0 to Spain. She hit a nine-minute hat-trick in a group stage game against the hosts, her only goals in the tournament.
