Walton Nominated For Save of the Month
Thursday, 2nd Jan 2025 14:11

Town keeper Christian Walton has been nominated for December’s Premier League Save of the Month award for his stop from Cole Palmer during Monday’s 2-0 victory over Chelsea at Portman Road.

Walton, 29, making his second Premier League start and first since the opening day, put in an impressive display with his save from England international forward Palmer the highlight.

The Town number one is up against Arsenal’s David Raya, Matz Sels of Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez, Chelsea’s Robert Sanchez and Stefan Ortega of Manchester City for the gong.

Earlier in the season, the Blues’ other senior keeper, Aro Muric, was nominated for the August and September awards for saves at Manchester City and Brighton.

It's well deserved, was a fantastic save and has a good chance of winning overall.
Really hope Walton keeps his place in the side for the rest of the season,he brings a calm assurance to the entire defence.

A fantastic save from a fantastic goalkeeper. We have a chance to climb the table with him in goal for the rest of the season.

We have two very good keepers. Its just the younger of these needs to add consistency of performance to his game which i have no doubt he will as he matures

I'll see your 2 very good gks and raise it to 3. Slicker is a potential number 1 for the long term imo.

I was hoping Sky would include Walton's save in the highlights because I genuinely could not believe he pulled it off. What a save that is. Thing of beauty, but yes I think on style points Walton's but putting my football brain on, Martinez... I still remember his heroics against us at PR. Any other keeper and we would of beaten Villa 4-2.

It was an extraordinary performance from Walton considering he had been out of the side for such a long time. I think the defence where always a bit on edge not knowing what Murics was going to do next especially when the team was under pressure he can make irational decisions.

As others say, Martinez save v Forest is nailed on winner. Fair play to Walton, he deserves an extended run and hopefully is a calming influence on the defence in front of him. Confidence in the man between the posts can do wonders for the whole team.

CW has been waiting on the sidelines and never made a fuss but clearly hoped he would get his chance to prove that he is and should be the number 1 choice. After his display against Chelsea. in such a big, he has proved it without any shadow of a doubt... and to possibly get save of the month in his 1s1t match since Liverpool will do his confidence the world of good
