Cash-strapped Town have agreed fees for Hermann Hreidarsson and Darren Ambrose. The Icelander is travelling to Portsmouth for talks over the weekend while Ambrose is to discuss a move to Newcastle United.

Club chairman David Sheepshanks says the deals are a consequence of the club's current financial plight: "These sales were a necessity in our current situation and the matter was largely out of our hands.

"Supporters will be disappointed about the need to sell when we are so close to the play-offs. No matter how much we wish it were different, regrettably financial institutions only work on certainty and not on hope value.

"We still have a strong team and we all hope that in the face of this adversity we can still challenge for and gain a play-off spot."

No fees have been mentioned regarding the pair and the deals are not expected to be completed until Monday.

Ambrose has been removed from the squad ahead of tomorrow's game at home to Brighton while Hreidarsson is on the sidelines with a gash just above his knee.

It is likely that at least some of the money raised from the transfers will pay for administrators Deloitte and Touche's services. Leicester City employed the same firm during their administration and were charged £1.2 million.
