Town Bookies' Early Favourites For Championship Title
Monday, 26th May 2025 12:49

Town are the bookies’ early favourites to win the 2025/26 Championship title.

The Blues, whose demotion to the second tier after one season in the Premier League was confirmed a month ago, are, according to Oddschecker, 5-1 favourites to win the division and 6-4 favourites to gain promotion.

Southampton, another of this season’s relegated Premier League sides, are second-favourites at 13-2 for the title and 2-1 for promotion.

Sheffield United, who missed out on promotion this season having finished third before being defeated in the play-offs, are third-favourites (9-1 and 5-2) with Birmingham, newly promoted from League One, fourth (11-1, 10-3).

The other relegated Premier League team, Leicester City, are seventh-favourites (14-1, 9-2), presumably as the Foxes are facing a points deduction due to contravening FFP rules.

Wish we weren't favourites really, just adds extra pressure we could do without.
Having said that, providing we can keep the majority of the squad together, along with 5/6 quality additions, then absolutely we should be right up there.

Don't think the outside noise from the bookies will affect the team, McKenna will make sure of that.

the mckenna fan boys will have to acept that getting us promoted is a par performance and he still has done nothing to match Burley never mind our two giants.

Come on guys. Let's give mckenna a lot of credit . My one dilemma is he does not try a plan b and go for games. Too much backwards for my liking

Going to have to do some heavy work on central midfield if we are going to challenge at the top.

Kmc and the staff have already started rge recruitment process....we are down the line on that already having known relegation is certain weeks ago....midfield is the main area for recruitment bit I think they know that better than ourselves..it's going to be interesting who they sign but power and pace is essential...
A new training centre on its way....a great workplace for the players....a great stadium...great fans and financial security with a club run in the right way....gonna be tough but they and us too must believe ...

Lazy betting companies. They probably had Luton as a favourite this time last year.
Leicester would obviously be favourites if it wasn't for the chance that they get penalised. However, they will no doubt wriggle out of it.

I've got a funny feeling Southampton will get their act together.

We should be well within the playoffs if our recruitment is right. All depends on who the premier league new boys decide to pinch from our squad. Not sure Omari has done enough yet to convince a bottom half Prem' team to make a sufficient bid. His time will come shortly. Davis's stock has fallen. He has been the biggest disappointment for me this season. His confidence looks shot. Doubt we will have to entertain sales for silly fees like we would have done in previous times.

Knowing we were getting relegated so early may just have been a blessing in disguise. At least the planning should already be in place. Just have to wait for the expected sales to take place before we can get the right bodies in.

Think Jack Clarke will score a fair few next season.

Looking ahead I don't know how we build a squad even stronger that's better prepared for the Prem' if we go up. Certainly need to recruit stronger, bigger and fitter for midfield and front line otherwise we could become the next yo yo team.

That won't help us, followed 50 years and a favourite tag is not a suitor,

Don't want to be hearing anything about being the bookies favourite.. all that fies is set us up with a bloody great big target on our backs to be shot down.

Need to keep a lid on all this crap as things have a way of biting you in the arse...see
" promotion favourites Sheffield Utd only one winner at the Championship PO finals" that went well didn't it!

I think Leicester have probably got the strongest squad at the moment although they could start the season with a points deficit. We didn't manage to register a single win against either Leicester or Southampton but i don't think it's got any bearing on next season's outcome. Birmingham could be a surprise package and like us they now have wealthy owners but i think playing hard games week in week out could be a telling factor. We will have to freshen the squad as some of the present players might find the motivation of another promotion push a bit much. Having said all this it's way too early to start making predictions until we know the make up of our squad.

For those being critical of KM, who would you put in his place?????????? We are a work in progress and this season is a set back, they happen! We will come good again, maybe this season or maybe next, either way we are in much better shape than many clubs.

Keep the faith.

Churchmans… “Were not a big club…” Some fans on here when Evans was stifling us, seemingly in justification of such…

Gamechanger has been very quiet lately and remember pension funds generally demand a fast return on their investment. Burley's name is now being mentioned but he lost the plot in Town's second season not the first by making a disastrous mistake on hiring a goalkeeper. Does this sound familiar?

Anyone heard how many season tickets have been renewed, everyone who sits near me is looking forward to next season.

the huge sums paid for players today are bank loans, and if the banks are in danger of becoming insolvent they will call in their loans. That means that the teams that cannot pony up the money can no longer use those players as they are owned by the banks. Towns debt is extremely low compared to most of the other teams in the Premiership and could find themselves when they go back up in midtable by default. I would be very surprised if Gamechanger is not aware of this
