Town Linked With Loan Approach For Spanish Striker
Friday, 1st Aug 2025 13:36

Town are reported to have made a loan approach to Serie A Como for Spanish striker Iván Azón.

La Liga Valencia have been in talks regarding the 22-year-old former Spain U21 international for some days but with the move not having reached a conclusion.

Now, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that the Blues have made an attempt the hijack that switch and we understand there is some interest from the Blues.

Zaragoza-born Azón, who is 5ft 11in tall, started his career with his hometown club Real Zaragoza before moving to Como in January for €2 million (£1.7 million) plus a further €500,000 (£435,000). It's reported he is available for loan for €500,000 having yet to take to the field for Como.

For Real Zaragoza, he scored 27 goals in 150 appearances, also picking up nine assists.

Annie M - so who has been our primary striker target this year that we’ve missed out on?

ArnieM added 17:49 - Aug 1
I. Ouldnt yell you who put primary target is fir dure. But we chased the Chelsea striker ( now going to Sunderland it seems) for ages... then linked with 2-3 others. Last season it was a foreign Striker, then Bojo etc but we never seem to land the player we're after do we .. this summer looks to be heading the same way,.

Time for the usuals to have another Hissy Fit over yet another ‘World Class’ player (in their minds) that they’ve never heard of, or anyone else !!

Certainly no hissy fit here blueboy81 and certainly no world class player either, which I'm assuming we're in agreement on. Record of around 1 goal every 5 and a half games for RZ, and an assist about once every 16 games. However, he's still young, and Fabregas obviously saw enough in him to take him to Como. For me, jury's out. Case of trusting those behind closed doors, or not!

Guiu, though was on our list, said he didn’t want to go to the championship. Don’t know who you mean by the 2 or 3 others we’ve been ‘linked with’ so can’t comment.
Last year we had Broja here but he failed the medical, so not really misssed out there.
Getting good strikers in to play the way KM wants obviously isn’t easy but feel confident the club are working hard to do so

Oooo, Spanish strikers tend to work out well for us and with the source coming from Romano it's usually pretty promising

Important we get this right while Hirst will be our main striker he does tend to be injury prone

If he's anything like Pablo, get him in quick. Certainly something different up front in terms of physicality. Fingers crossed on this.

He can’t be any worse than some of the other strikers we have been linked with.

Just think if we got Ivan, Hackney, and Cajuste. What a team that would be.

When Delap joined us he was hardly prolific and many of us were were underwhelmed by the signing, his goal ratio was before he joined 12 goals in 70 games that’s an average of 5.833 This guy has 24 goals in 140 games that’s also 5.833. Both are 22. So I will wait to see if we sign him and then after I have seen him play I will have an opinion, but I agree with Timmyh he is rated by people who know much more than I.

Del45.....load of nonsense, they are far more likely to go for Douglas Luiz, who fits their profile more.
According to some reports HH is still hopeful that Tottenham make a move for him,as their his preferred destination.

I'm probably one of the few people on here who have actually seen the boy play. He was playing for Real Zaragoza against UD Almería, and frankly he was rubbish and got hooked after 65 minutes with his side three down! Later that season, I travelled to La Romeda to see Almería in the away fixture, and he was a sub, called on after 80 min and much to the surprise and disappointment of the UDA faithful he scored the second and decisive goal in his side's 2:0 victory! Obviously it would be wrong to judge on 2 appearances of lees than 90 minutes ...but he certainly didn't remind me of Pablo!!!!

Monarch Blue, certainly would be wrong to judge on that amount of playing time, but you're one up ( well two actually ) on the rest of us!

del45, for some bizarre reason I regularly get notifications from the Everton website on my phone, might be something to do with going on there months ago! However, if you read the article properly he hasn't had a medical at Everton, or anywhere else, and as a poster above mentioned, even on the Everton website, they're saying he's hoping for an approach from Tottenham. Whatever, it looks we are at the bottom of the chain right now. Good luck to the lad if he gets what he wants, but we want players who actually want to be here.

Doesn't look like a saviour at all (not saying he won't turn out to be good, but...) Decent stats from 2nd division Spain but couldn't get on the field in Italy. Como looking to dump him six months after his arrival....

One thing is obvious. There's major competition among many clubs for signings right now. That can't be an easy process for those responsible. So even more patience is required. Like everyone else, I hope something materialises soon. We are 80% there, but we probably need the final 20 to fulfil our desire to be a top challenger in the division.

Patience needed but there is some cause for concern about our general recruitment and obvious targets. The two signings indicate we may have learnt something but letting important players go for free indicates we haven’t. I’d prefer we went for players who clearly want to develop with us rather than ones where we’re obviously competing with bigger fish (is in the Prem) so we’ll either lose out late in the day again or pay over the odds again in the hope we’ll get a bigger resale which worryingly seems to be the fixation.
