Three Trialists in Squad
Three Trialists in Squad

Town are taking a young side to Framlingham Town for the reserves pre-season friendly on July 16th (KO 7.45pm). The squad includes trialists Steve Towers, Newton Boyce and Alfie Kamara.

Towers, a centre-half from Midland Alliance League club Oadby Town, was on trial at Town towards the end of last season and played in the 3-0 reserves win at Coventry. Boyce is a young midfielder who was with the Sunderland U17 side last term.

Alfie Kamara, recently released by Arsenal, had a trial spell with the Blues towards the tail-end of 2002/03 and was involved in academy and second-string games. The Sierra Leone-born England U15 international plays either in the centre of defence or midfield.

Also included are the likes of Aidan Collins, Ian Westlake, Nabil Abidallah, Dean Bowditch and Antonio Murray who will be keen to show the management what sort of form they are in ahead of the season proper. Released defender Erdem Artun is training with the Blues while he recovers from injury.

The Town squad gives an idea of how the reserves will look this season with the playing staff at Portman Road greatly reduced in the last 12 months. With the number of fixtures taking their toll last year the club will not field an U17s academy side this time around. The players from that age group will be regularly involved in the U19s team while those in the U19 age range will feature in the reserves.

Framlingham Town play at Badingham Road and will use the cash raised from the game to pay for a new floodlighting system. Entrance is on the gate and costs £3, except for the under-5s who get in free.

Town squad: Lewis Price, Scott Peat, Erdem Artun, Ian Westlake, Scott Mitchell, Aidan Collins, Chris Hogg, Nabil Abidallah, Antonio Murray, Stephen Towers, Sam Morrow, Dean Bowditch, Erkan Okay, Alfie Kamara, Newton Boyce, Craig Reid, Daniel Flack, Adem Atay.
