Reuser Aware of Interest

Dutch midfielder Martijn Reuser says he is aware that clubs are keeping an eye on him. The midfielder or frontman looks likely to start this season on the bench for the Blues.

The former Ajax player says he wants a starting spot: "I just want a first-team place. I know I'm fit and sharp and all you can do is score goals as I did.

"I can play up front but with the two Bents and Pablo all gelling so well and playing well I know I have to bide my time or I can play wide depending on how we play."

Reuser, who scored twice for the reserves at Sudbury on Tuesday night, is one of the club's higher players and is available on a free transfer.

He says that scouts are running the rule over him: "I know people are watching but I just want to do well for Ipswich as I hope I'm showing by being fit and looking so sharp."

Alun Armstrong, also available on a free transfer, has been linked with moves to Derby and a number of other clubs, however there has been no serious interest in the striker since Coventry made an attempt to sign him at the beginning of the summer.

Then Armstrong's wages proved the stumbling block, the cash-strapped Sky Blues unable to get anywhere near his current Portman Road contract.
