Joe: Too Few Chances
Joe: Too Few Chances

Town manager Joe Royle was unhappy with the number of chances his side created and with two gifted goals in their 2-1 FA Cup loss to Sunderland.

The Blues' boss said: "They have defended magnificently and we have given them two goals.

"People were asking last week why I was after a front player, but we have not been able to score today.

"The possession figures will be heavily weighted in our favour, but we have had only four attempts on goal in 90 minutes.

"In terms of our season, we have bigger fish to fry. The odds are against you going on and beating a Premier League side."

Mick McCarthy felt his side deserved their victory: "I thought in the first half we played very well, and for an away team we were not in control but we were controlled.

"I thought there were not a lot of chances, but we played well, and kept possession well.

"We got a very fortunate break but we will take it gladly.

"That changed the game because it took the sting out of Ipswich for a time and we managed to keep possession and fortunately when we did lose a goal, it was a bit too late for Ipswich."
