Blues in Central Masters
Blues in Central Masters

Town's over-35s will be in action on Sunday evening in the Central Masters at Coventry's Skydome. Two years ago the Blues won at the group stage and progressed to the final of the six-a-side tournament.

The stars then were Jason Dozzell and Simon Milton, however, last season the Town side fared less well, going out at the first hurdle.

This season's squad sees some new additions, including keeper Lee Bracey and striker Steve McGavin, neither of whom made a senior start for the Blues.

Bracey was at Town between 1997 and 1999 but was prevented from making an appearance by Richard Wright's fitness and consistency. The former Hull net sentry became a popular pundit on Radio Suffolk during his time at Portman Road.

McGavin started his career with Town but came to prominence during his spells at Colchester, Birmingham and Wycombe Wanderers.

The Blues face Coventry, Leicester and Norwich with the games covered live on Sky Sports One (7pm).

A number of ex-Town men are in action for other sides in the Masters, although David Lowe is the only former Blue facing old team-mates on Sunday.

Charlton include keeper Mike Salmon and ex-loanee Mark Stuart, while West Ham will field another Town loan player of the past in John Moncur, as well as Steve Whitton and Stuart Slater.

Jason Cundy and Kevin Wilson play for Chelsea, David Kerslake for Spurs, Brian Talbot for Arsenal and David Barnes for Sheffield United.

Nigel Gleghorn will wear Manchester City's blue, while John Wark is a member of the Liverpool veterans, a side which plays tournaments around the world throughout the year.

Town: Lee Bracey, Micky Stockwell, Neil Thompson, Mark Brennan, Trevor Putney, Simon Milton, Jason Dozzell, Ian Atkins, Bontcho Guentchev, Steve McGavin.
