Price Set for Loan
Price Set for Loan

Second-choice Town keeper Lewis Price is set for a loan spell, according to manager Joe Royle. Price was impressive in the 2-0 win against Brentford on Tuesday, his second senior start.

Royle said: "I'm pleased with Lewis but we are still actively trying to get him out on loan. We have Shane Supple as well, and he is a competent keeper, and the way Kelvin is performing it would do Lewis good to get the experience elsewhere."

One manager who might be interested in him is Brentford boss Martin Allen, thoroughly impressed with Price's display against his side: "The Ipswich goalkeeper was outstanding - man of the match. His save from Isaiah Rankin was a Gordon Banks-style save - brilliant."

As well as keeping out the Brentford attack, Price was involved in both goals and came close to scoring the second himself but was denied when Ian Westlake stuck out a toe.

Commenting on the incident, perhaps the highlight of an otherwise dull evening, Price said: "You would have thought your housemate would have let it go in. A goal and an assist would not have been bad!"

The Wales U21 stopper says he is quite happy to spend some time on loan: "I don't mind which division it is in as long as I'm used to playing each week, so I can get used to playing in front of a crowd and dealing with whatever mistakes I make."
