The frontman left Portman Road in the summer, subsequently having unsuccessful trials at Bristol City and Rotherham United. Darlo assistant manager Mark Proctor, like Armstrong a Middlesbrough old boy, said: "We're hoping he will join us, and are working hard on it. "His pedigree is outstanding, and if he is fit enough there is no doubt that he could be a major asset to us."
