![]() Wednesday, 5th Jan 2005 11:41 It seems it was not only the Town defence who were in a generous mood on New Year's Day, the collection for the Asian tsunami appeal prior to the game with West Ham raised more than £24,000. The collection around the ground was made by the British Red Cross, the Lions and the Rotary Club. In addition to the collection at the ground, the Long Melford 90 branch of the Supporters' Club raised £264.50 by donating the fares collected from the branch travel bus for the West Ham match. The branch committee funded the bus costs from funds, a spokesman telling TWTD: "We felt it was the minimum we could do to help the appeal, given the appalling scale of this disaster."
