Striker Dean Bowditch says that he feels his month loan at Burnley is the best thing for his career at this stage. The frontman has not played as often as would have wanted to this season and made a short-term move to Turf Moor yesterday.

Town manager Joe Royle is still concerned that the 18-year-old is too lightweight to play in a front-two and has tended to play him either wide or in a three-man attack.

Bowditch says he can see his boss's point: "I can see where the manager is coming from when he says he sees me in a three. But I know I can play as one of two up front. I have done a job there and feel I still can.

"I have not been playing and I have not been in the side as much as I felt I might be this season.

"I spoke with the manager about my position and he agreed that this is the best thing for me at the moment.

"Going out on loan is what is good for my career at this point."

Bowditch adds that he is seeking to emulate his hero Teddy Sheringham's similar move from Millwall to Aldershot when the future England international was at the same stage of his career.

Burnley boss Steve Cotterill is pleased with his new acquisition: "He is a good, young and very exciting player.

"We are looking forward to seeing him in our team and adding him to the squad.

"He hasn't had too many opportunities to shine this season, but hopefully we can see him shine here over the next few weeks."
