Ex-Town striker David Johnson has been told he can leave Nottingham Forest in the summer despite having another year left on his contract. Johnson joined Forest from Town in January 2001 for £3 million.

The former Jamaica and England B international, now 28, has spent the last two months on loan at Sheffield United where he has made four appearances as a sub.

Forest manager Gary Megson has started a major clearout at the City Ground with Alan Rogers, Marlon King, Adam Nowland and Kevin James also told they can leave, and out of contract players Eoin Jess, Jon Olav Hjelde, Andy Impey, Darryl Powell, Gregor Robertson, Barry Roche, Craig Westcarr, James Biggins, Gavin Hurren, John Lukic and Jonathan Wilmet all released by the relegated former European Cup winners.
