Jim Finally Does Sign

The saga that has become the question of Jim Magilton's future finally seems to be over with the 36-year-old signing his new one-year contract. Earlier today reports in the Northern Irish press quoted the Town skipper as saying he was surprised the club had announced that he had signed.

Magilton, who first appeared to be leaving, was then undecided, then signing and then undecided once more, told the club site: "I've read that I couldn't understand why the club had said I'd signed when I hadn't and that I might not sign at all.

"That's rubbish to say I might not sign. I told the manager at the start of the week that I would be staying and did an interview on Wednesday with the club's TV channel, Ipswich World, saying that I had agreed to sign a new contract and would be signing in the next day or so.

"Yeah, I hadn't signed at that time. The club never said I did. They said I had agreed to sign, which I had.

"At that stage there were a couple of minor details that had to be cleared that were never going to be a problem and now there can be no argument, I've signed in big, bold letters!

"I wouldn't have turned up for training this week if I wasn't going to stay here. I could have got injured and been left without a club. There has been trust on both my part and the club's.

"I should think the fans are a bit bored of the whole thing now!"
