Boss Joe Royle says the Blues are continuing to search for a way to make new Norwegian signing Vemund Brekke Skard available before the transfer window opens in January. Skard, who has agreed an 18-month deal with the club, was in training at Playford Road earlier today.

Royle told the club site: "Vemund's with us now and at the latest he will be clear to play for us from January 1st onwards.

"But if we can tweak the regulations in the meantime, then maybe sooner. When I say tweak I mean find a legal loophole - and we're looking!

"He's a ball-winning midfield player who will bring something different to the squad. He can play as well and is a tremendously fit lad."

Skard, who lists cross-country skiing amongst his hobbies, wasn't paid a wage while with Norwegian second division side Brumunddal but received a travel allowance which means he is classed as a professional and not an amateur. As an amateur the 24-year-old would not have been subject to the restrictions of the transfer window.
