Sven-Goran Eriksson looks likely to visit Portman Road on Sunday for the Sky game with Leicester City on Sunday. Eriksson resigned from Lazio yesterday and is to start assessing English players immediately.

He is set to take in another Premiership game on Saturday before making a return trip to Portman Road, a ground well-known to him from the seventies. When he was an aspiring manager at IFK Gothenburg the Swede made regular trips to watch Bobby Robson's Town play and train and once even sat on the bench for a match.

The Town players Eriksson will presumably be most interested in are Richard Wright and goal-a-game striker Marcus Stewart. Last season fans were calling for James Scowcroft to get an England shout, while this year Jamie Clapham has been linked with a call-up. In the long-term Eriksson might be interested in Titus Bramble, a player becoming a regular in the U21s.

Town's reserves meet Watford at Vicarage Road this evening. A couple of high profile Town players will be involved including Wayne Brown who is returning from his groin injury. Earlier this season Brown was linked with both Stockport and Wimbledon. Both may still be interested in taking him on loan with a view to buying him.

Also playing will be Amir Karic who hasn't had many first team opportunities so far. Earlier this week George Burley said that Karic had worked hard in training and it was largely the form of other players and lack of injuries which had restricted him so far.

Squad: Salmon, Artun, Miller, Brown, Karic, Abidallah, Nicholls, Westlake, Friars, Ambrose, Burton, Chibogu, R Logan, Snowdon, Bloomfield and Pullen.

Further to yesterday's piece on Town in the media TWTD regular Gavin Barber has a piece in the current WSC looking at the relative recent histories of Ipswich and Norwich. Sounds like a cheering read!
