Reserve team boss Steve McCall, goalkeeping coach Andy Rhodes and fitness coach Simon Thadani are in talks with new manager Jim Magilton regarding their roles at Portman Road. Already chief scout Colin Suggett and assistant manager Willie Donachie have left the club.

Magilton said yesterday that there will be further changes to the backroom staff with a director of football and chief scout set to be named within the next few weeks.

Terry Cooper, Dave Merrington and Dennis Rofe, all at Southampton during the Northern Irish midfielder's spell with the Saints, could come into contention with Cooper currently scouting for the South coast club perhaps in line for a similar role at Town.

Ex-Liverpool manager Roy Evans, cited as a big influence by Magilton yesterday, is working with John Toshack at Wales, but other figures from the new Town manager's time at Anfield may be considered.

Yesterday, Tony Humes was named the club's new academy manager.
