![]() Wednesday, 12th Jul 2006 16:20 Released central defender Gerard Nash is included in Town's squad travelling to the west of Ireland to face Galway United in their second pre-season friendly this evening (KO 7.45pm). Nash has been training with the rest of the squad having been given time to impress new manager Jim Magilton. Aidan Collins, also released at the end of last season, has similarly been give time to show the new management team what he can do, but is currently on the sidelines after a knee operation. Town's squad for the Galway game is also without Owen Garvan who was ruled out earlier in the week having contracted shingles. Gavin Williams, Town's most impressive player at Boston on Saturday, is sidelined with tendinitis, while Alan Lee (groin) and Matt Richards (ankle) are not yet ready having spent the summer recuperating from injuries. Despite not being involved, Lee, who underwent abdominal surgery last month, will make the trip back to his hometown where his brother still lives. French trialist Alexis Bertin is again included having done enough in the Boston game and in training to win an extended stay at Portman Road. Fellow trialists Colin Healy and Eugen Bopp have not been asked to return to the club. Young striker Darryl Knights is included in the squad. Galway United, managed by Tony Cousins a friend of Jim Magilton, beat Cobh Ramblers 2-1 in an Eircom League Division One game last night. Nick Leeson, famous for causing the collapse of Barings Bank, is the club's general manager, having initially joined them as commercial manager last year.
