Naylor On His Knees Tue 17th Aug 1999 16:47
Richard Naylor has revealed that he is not the only Town player currently suffering from tendinitis. Last week Titus Bramble was diagnosed with the problem in his ankles and now Naylor is suffering a recurrence in his knees. The on-form striker has suffered with this problem before, missing out a year of his YT days and for half a season more recently. The pain is so bad after a game that he can't even walk up the stairs. The problem has been traced to his posture and this will be worked upon in order to rid him of the problem. Meanwhile he is enjoying his best start to the season and will be determined to stay in the side for as long as possible.
Minute's Silence Tue 17th Aug 1999 12:42
There will be a minute's silence before Town's game on Saturday with Bolton Wanderers. The club is asking fans to remember George Knights, Chairman of the ITFC Supporters' Club for twenty years who died last week and Martin and Matthew Hunt, the two Bolton fans killed in a car accident returning from the play-off second leg in May. The TWTD Message Board regulars who made a collection for the Hunt family hope to make a presentation to a Bolton representative before the game.
Matt's Record Breaker? Tue 17th Aug 1999 12:35
Matt Holland's attempt to break the ITFC record for continuous appearances as an outfield player may be scuppered by his inclusion in the Ireland squad for their next two games.
Town Chasin' Jason? Mon 16th Aug 1999 14:26
Links between Town and lower division strikers seem to be the in thing with Brighton's Gary Hart and Cambridge's Martin Butler already the subjects of speculation. Now it is reported that we were watching Bristol Rovers' striker Jason Roberts at the weekend. The 21 year old scored the winner in the game against Gillingham and was also apparently being watched by West Ham.
We'll Get You Butler!? Mon 16th Aug 1999 12:50
Reports suggest that Town are interested in Martin Butler from Cambridge United. The 25 year old striker scored 21 goals last season and is highly valued at the Abbey Stadium. Town's Worthington Cup opponents Brentford recently had a £300,000 offer refused and it is thought that a price in the region of £1 million might be a more realistic figure. The 5'11" attacker would provide excellent back up for Town's three current strikers and any interest may mean that Jonas Axeldal's Town career will go no further.
Town Pass Robins Test Mon 16th Aug 1999 11:21
Town continued their excellent start to the season with a stunning 4-1 victory away at Swindon. This brings Town's goal tally at the County Ground to a whopping sixteen in the last four visits.
