New loan signing Jay McEveley is in the reserve squad facing Fulham at their Motspur Park training ground this evening (KO 7pm). The Blackburn Rovers player has joined the Blues on a season-long loan.

Boss Joe Royle says trialist Óscar Vales will probably not be joining the Blues. The former Athletic Bilbao defender has impressed in his week at the club and was set to play for the reserves tonight, but it appears Town cannot agree terms with the 30-year-old Spaniard.

Awful Town fell to a crushing 4-0 home defeat to Preston North End. The Blues rarely looked like getting back into the game after two goals from Lilywhites' striker David Nugent put the visitors ahead just after the half hour, David Jones and Patrick Agyemang completing the scoring.
