Town chief executive Simon Clegg says it’s difficult to know what the full effects of the recently ratified Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP) will be but believes the development could see smaller clubs lose young players to bigger sides. The Blues were amongst 22 Football League clubs - eight from the Championship - to vote against the Premier League proposals for an overhaul of the academy system, including a new compensation tribunal system, at a meeting at Walsall's Bescot Stadium late last month.

Town contract rebel Caolan Lavery is on trial with Leicester City and scored in his first game for a Foxes XI last night. TWTD revealed that the 19-year-old frontman had been offered a trial by the Midlands club last week after first reporting their interest back in April.

Town boss Paul Jewell says he expects Doncaster striker Billy Sharp to leave the South Yorkshire club in January due to a clause in his contract at the Keepmoat Stadium. The Blues manager had a £2.3 million offer for the ex-Sheffield United man turned down in the summer and confirmed recent reports claiming he’s still keen to bring the 25-year-old to Portman Road.

Town chief executive Simon Clegg says he is due to meet his Ipswich Borough Council counterpart Russell Williams in the next few weeks with the dispute regarding the back rent owed on the land on which the Portman Road stadium stands still not resolved. At a meeting of IBC’s executive committee last month the club were given until December 31st to agree to new payment proposals.
