Bowden Confirms McLoughlin and Carson Signings Mon 09th Feb 2009 23:42
Chief executive Derek Bowden has confirmed that Town have signed Irish goalkeeper Ian McLoughlin on a professional contract, as first revealed by TWTD last month. Bowden has also confirmed that Northern Irish U16 and U17 international Josh Carson has signed academy forms with the club.

Midfielder Owen Garvan has been named in the Republic of Ireland side playing Germany in a friendly in Cork on Tuesday evening. Garvan will win his eighth cap at U21 level, scoring three goals.

Town's FA Youth Cup fifth round tie against Watford was abandoned at 0-0 with just two minutes left on the clock due to an increasingly waterlogged pitch. Referee Matthew McLaughlin held two pitch inspections before the game but despite torrential rain was happy for the game to start.

Bryan Klug has promoted Sammy Morgan to the post of Academy Manager, from Head of Education. Klug first brought Morgan to the club in 2004 who was also a former Academy Director at Norwich.

Academy striker Connor Wickham says he is looking forward to this evening's FA Youth Cup fifth round tie against Watford at Portman Road (KO 7pm). The England U16 and U17 international netted a hat-trick in the 4-2 extra-time victory over Crystal Palace in the last round.
