Civelli in Strong Squad for Newmarket Trip Mon 05th Jul 2010 15:22
Argentinian midfielder Luciano Civelli will finally return to action for the first time in 16 months on Tuesday when manager Roy Keane takes a strong squad of 22 players to Newmarket Town for the first friendly of pre-season (KO 7.45pm). Civelli has been out of action since damaging knee ligaments in the home game with Burnley in March 2009.

Town’s friendly at Southend on Friday could be called off, according to reports in Essex. The Shrimpers unveiled new management duo Paul Sturrock and Tommy Widdrington this morning, Steve Tilson having been relieved of his duties last week.

Colchester boss John Ward says he would like Town striker Kevin Lisbie to return to the Essex club next season but is concerned that he may not get the chance to speak to the 31-year-old before he joins another side. Lisbie spent last season on loan at the Weston Homes Community Stadium, having joined the Blues from the U's for £750,000 in July 2008.

Town have ruled out further friendlies in Holland in pre-season aside from the PSV match on Saturday 17th July. The Blues had planned to play two other matches in the days following the game in Eindhoven but were unable to agree suitable fixtures.

Former Town coach Steve Foley has confirmed that he has opted against taking a coaching job US side the Tampa Bay Rowdies, as reported by TWTD on Tuesday. However, Foley says the switch could still happen but that he is currently looking for a new job in the UK.
